how are you?
Today no politics, no book excerpts, and no city/travel portraits, but a post on entertainment - on my favorite actors and what makes a good actor in my eyes.

In my opinion actors should improve their skills and repertoire throughout their career (as should professionals in most lines of work). Good examples of that are Leonard DiCaprio or Joaquin Phoenix.
Others peak very early and have a long decline, and often play one-dimensional characters. Examples of that are Johnny Depp, Christoph Waltz or even Robert De Niro - quite okayish acting, but always the same, rather crazy characters in the case of Depp and Waltz, and slightly criminal mafiaesque ones in the case of De Niro.

Heute mal keine Politik, keine Buchauszüge und keine Städte-/Reiseporträts, sondern ein Post über Entertainment - über meine Lieblingsschauspieler und was einen guten Schauspieler in meinen Augen ausmacht.

Als weitere sehr gute Schauspieler wären Leonardo DiCaprio, Robin Williams, Kate Winslet, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Pattinson, Natalie Portman, Judi Dench oder Anthony Hopkins zu nennen.
Meiner Meinung nach sollten Schauspieler ihre Fähigkeiten und ihr Repertoire im Laufe ihrer Karriere verbessern/erweitern (wie wahrscheinlich alle Profis in den meisten Berufszweigen). Gute Beispiele dafür sind Leonard DiCaprio oder Joaquin Phoenix.
Andere haben einen sehr frühen Höhepunkt und einen langen Abstieg, und spielen oft eindimensionale Charaktere. Beispiele dafür sind Johnny Depp, Christoph Waltz oder auch Robert De Niro - schauspielerisch ganz okay, aber immer die gleichen, eher verrückten Charaktere im Falle von Depp und Waltz und leicht kriminelle mafiöse im Falle von De Niro.

En mi opinión, los actores deberían mejorar sus habilidades y su repertorio a lo largo de su carrera (al igual que los profesionales en la mayoría de las líneas de trabajo). Buenos ejemplos de ello son Leonard DiCaprio o Joaquin Phoenix.
Otros alcanzan la cima muy pronto y tienen un largo declive, y a menudo interpretan personajes unidimensionales. Ejemplos de ello son Johnny Depp, Christoph Waltz o incluso Robert De Niro. Actúan bastante bien, pero siempre los mismos personajes, bastante locos en el caso de Depp y Waltz, y mafiosos y criminales en el caso de De Niro.

This is interesting! The genre of movies I love are action, biopics, thrillers, romance and period dramas. I'm familiar with most of these popular actors and actresses you have listed. I grew up watching some of their films and TV series. Their acting skills are top-notch! But it also depends on the script and maybe the directing.
I have so many favourites like Robert De Niro, Denzel Washington, Robert Downey Jr, Samuel L Jackson and Johnny Depp of course! For the ladies, it's Viola Davies (she's outstanding in most of her inspiring movies), Julia Roberts, Meryl Street, Anne Hathaway and a lot more that I can't remember now.
When I see a movie and like the acting, I stay with the actor or actress and watch other films they've performed in. 🙂
I also love biopics and thrillers (especially espionage thrillers) and period dramas.
Oh, I didn't even know of Viola Davies. Can you recommend a movie?
Espionage thrillers? Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible series comes to mind. I love it!
Viola Davis is great in her performances. If you watch TV series, then check out How To Get Away With Murder. Some of her films I like are The Help, Doubt, Widows and the 2022 release, The Woman King. 🙂
Da hast du ne Menge guter Schauspieler: innen genannt. Claire Danes fand ich zB. in der Serie „Homeland“ sehr stark. Auch Leonardo DiCaprio hat etliche verdammt starke Rollen gespielt.
Wen ich noch vermisse ist Tom Hanks. Der ist unheimlich wandelbar und ich sehe ihn sehr gern.
Ja, Homeland ist grandios - v.a. wegen Danes, das Skript wurde in den letzten ca. 2 Staffeln leider unrealistischer bzw. schlechter.
Tom Hanks ist nicht mein Fall (etwas einschläfernd). Ich bin wohl der einzige Mensch, der Forrest Gump langweilig und einfach nicht gut findet. Cast Away und Saving Private Ryan fand ich auch nicht gut. Aber in Road to Perdition und Green Mile fand ich ihn solide.
Green Mile finde ich auch sehr gelungen. 🙌🏻
Kann bei Deiner Gesamtliste gut mitgehen:),
Christian Bale, Jeff Brigdes, Brendan Gleeson, Colin Farell und Forrest Withaker ev noch dazu, bei den Frauen Penelope Cruz und Cameron Diaz, gibt aber noch mehr natürlich.
Zwei meiner "Lieblingsfilmszenen" (gibt allerdings noch sehr viele andere, hier passt aber die Musik mit "The Gael" bzw. "Ten million slaves" einfach auch großartig) anbei:😁

Brendan Gleeson musste ich erstmal googlen. Das Gesicht war mir gleich präsent aus Troja und Königreich der Himmel, wobei ich auch einige andere Filme mit ihm gesehen habe. Sehr charakterstark, v.a. in der "Bösewicht"-Rolle.
Die Szene aus dem letzten Mohikaner (einer meiner Lieblingsfilme) finde ich auch grandios, inkl. Musik.
Where are the harry potter actors these days? Daniel Radcliffe was so talented as a child actor and now he is not doing great film anymore. His career has declined I think now.
