How far would YOU go for love?

As someone who has been stalked before, I was a little skeptical about watching You. I didn’t want to deal with any triggers, but I’m glad I did. I don’t exactly remember when I started watching You, but it’s been more than a year, and I’m now finishing Season One. Oh no, it’s not boring. It’s just that I wanted to take my time and take it all in.

You is a psychological thriller, crime, drama, and “all that you can think of” tv series. Season one of You is a whole roller coaster. It’s about a bookstore keeper, Will, who goes to all lengths just for love. And when I say all lengths, I’m talking about killing. Not just killing one person, but a lot.

Oh, and before he actually approaches someone he thinks he likes, he stalks the person for as long as he wants to get every single detail he needs from the person. So that way, when he’s in a relationship with you, you think he loves you so much because he knows you, but you have no idea he stalked you for weeks.

Let’s talk about the storyline in this series. I found out the movie was based on books by Caroline Kepnes, and I think she deserves a trophy for that. The story is really great, and I like how it takes off from 0-10 right from the beginning. It takes all your attention and gets you very interested in whatever is going on.

Now, the plot twists of this series. Nothing will prepare you for the twists and unexpected turns in this movie. And to be very honest, I like it. Normally, I’m not a fan of movies that make me think, but this particular one is different.

I think one of the things the creators of this series worked so hard on is the script. The dialogues in this movie are so good. They sound like realistic things people talk about in real life. And I must say I like the fact that they make sure to reveal what people were thinking about. That kind of adds spice to it because I think it’s cool that we know what a character is thinking about while executing a particular plan.

Before I forget, I want to just say no amount of words can describe how the acting in this series is. Penn Badgley, Victoria Pedretti, and all the actors in this series are so good. I always say that you know if an actor is good, they are able to play with your emotions, and they all did that to me. Oh, and of course, the cinematography in this series? Amazing!

The only loophole I don’t understand in this season is how the police haven’t even been involved despite Will’s many crimes, but then again, it’s just season one, so I’ll just hold on a while and watch as the whole story keeps unfolding.

I believe aside from the psychological crime, thriller drama, and other parts of this series, it’s a series that book lovers will like because it features great books. Although it’s just season one I watched, I still think You is a 9.5/10 series for me.

YOU is a masterpiece. The fifth season will be on Netflix on April 24.

Having watched all 4 seasons, I'd just let you know that it gets crazier with the twists and you'd likely still love it, I know I did.
