With the recent loss of Disney's rights to some characters, the door to new interpretations and perspectives has opened wide. One of those prisms focuses on inverting the tales we all know into sadistic and gruesome horror stories.

This set of films makes up the Twisted Childhood Universe, a group where Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Pinocchio and Peter Pan will have their own dark version.

This is a horror film that twists the classic Peter Pan story into a dark and gory tale.

The film follows Wendy, a young girl searching for her brother who has been kidnapped by a sadistic and deranged Peter Pan.

The film is an example of the slasher subgenre, with gruesome and gory scenes that are not suitable for all audiences.

Although the film has a poorly developed plot and one-dimensional characters, its strength lies in its ability to create a dark and tense atmosphere.

Scott Chambers' direction is effective in creating a dark, theatrical mise-en-scene on a budget of just $350,000, and Peter Pan's performance is particularly outstanding in his role as the sadistic villain.

Visually, the film is flat, there are few sets and none are striking. Peter Pan's house has its creepy feel, and the scenes of violence are powerful in their precision and torture.

This macabre version of the “Peter Pan” story works because of its exquisite setting and the way it shows the horror and depravity of a true psychopath.

The character of “Peter Pan” is a textbook psychopath with many parallels to William Lusting's “Maniac”.

An endearing mixture of “It”, “The Silence of the Lambs”, “The Basement of Fear” and all that eighties essence seasoned with liters of blood and “deaths” that take us back to “Terrifer”.

So this “Peter Pan” follows the good trail left by the second installment of “Winnie the Pooh” and expands the macabre universe of the “twisted childhood”, initially called “The Pooh”.
