This is a French remake of the Spanish series ‘Machos Alfa’ that keeps the original premise but adapts it completely to the style and humour of French comedy.
Although the basis remains the same - four friends confronting the changing male roles in today's society - the tone, approach to conflict and character development take different paths.
The humour here is more direct, more physical and more sexually charged, something that sets this version apart from the Spanish one.

While this gives it its own identity, it also changes the dynamic between the characters and the rhythm of the dialogue, which in ‘Machos Alfa’ had a more natural freshness. Even so, the series manages to be fun and maintains a good balance between satire and social criticism.
The performances are correct, with a cast that is fully committed to the tone of the series. The main characters have chemistry, although at times the situations seem more exaggerated than in the original version, losing some of the spontaneity that made the Spanish story so effective.
Even so, there are some very well-crafted moments that manage to get a laugh and make the episodes go by quickly.
Visually, the series maintains a neat aesthetic, with a mise-en-scène that takes advantage of the Parisian setting to differentiate itself from the original.
Situations feel more theatrical, which reinforces the style of humour but can also make some scenes feel more contrived.
All in all, it is a different version, with more lightheartedness and a more explicit approach in certain aspects, but it maintains the spirit of the original story. It is not a direct copy, but a reinterpretation with its own character, which makes it entertaining and recommendable, although without the unique charm of ‘Machos Alfa’.
