Hello, #Hive friends and lovers of series and movies, today I bring you a short series called:

The White Lotus which is available on the HBO platform for those who are curious to see something entertaining. Let us start by giving you a brief synopsis so you have an idea of what this black comedy with some nice touches of drama directed by Mike White is all about.

It all begins in the adventures of a group of people that take place in a luxurious resort in Hawaii, but, although these people arrive as a group do not know each other at first, but boy, do they know each other during the next 7 chaotic days that they are going to live.
This season is loaded with tension, intrigue, a lot of drama and even power dynamics involved in personal problems of everyone.
As always, I will bring you a series of reasons why I can recommend or not recommend a series, in this case we will start with:

I must congratulate those in charge of casting because the actors chosen to play each plot are of international stature, many familiar faces, some not so familiar, but with a lot of potential, starting with Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, and Murray Bartlett, offering outstanding performances that bring layers of complexity to their characters. And I must also single out the by then small Fred Hechinger who I feel gave a small performance but left a big message.
I feel that absolutely everyone knew what they were doing with the development of their characters, and each gave it the distinctive touch they deserved.

Direction and Script

I already mentioned that the director is Mike White, besides the fact that he is also its creator, he showed that he could achieve a balance between black humor and drama, in which sometimes you did not know whether to laugh or cry with the situations because they were really intense, but to the point of being funny, where social inequality makes you think again in many ways and privilege and complacency make you rethink many decisions in your life. In this way we see how the script achieves tense moments that resonate with the viewer and goes hand in hand with the direction of each story.

Aesthetics and Art Direction

Something made in Hawaii can rarely be ugly, so visually White Lotus gives you excellent backgrounds and takes a look at the deterioration of each character while still being beautiful, as I said before this series if or if it bets on balance in every way creating an attractive atmosphere, but at the same time is disturbing.

The theme that I most applauded that they brought to the screen was the effects of the physical, social, labor and emotional cost of tourism in local communities, being a small backdrop to other issues such as the double standards of tourists in different socio-economic contexts, the superficiality of modern relationships and the desperation to often find an identity when you are already a contemporary adult.
Absolutely all the themes are real and can easily be crumbled in everyday life, which gives more value to the work that is conducted.

My Opinion

I consider that it is not a spectacular series, but it is worth watching, we are not talking about anything of the caliber of GOT but it is a short series, fresh and full of entertainment that makes you want to see another chapter.
If I'm honest when I saw the trailer I thought it was a series that unfolded around some murder, but once I saw the theme of the mysterious death while it is a motive to continue watching it after a while you realize that it is not the central theme and you relax.

Conclusion

If you like intrigue, dark humor, and criticism of the society in which we live I'm sure you'll like it.
