This movie lets me feel the full spectrum of human emotions, love, hope, the fragility of life, it touches my soul about the things that really should matter, things that should be top priority.

The movie begins with the scene of William Parrish (Anthony Hopkins), a wealthy, successful media magnate, preparing for his sixty-fifth birthday. He is wise and thoughtful, considered a good man by all standards, and has great love for his family. He has lived a very fulfilling life, however he begins to hear strange voices insinuating that his end was close.

At the same time, his youngest daughter, Susan (Claire Forlani), is a doctor about to marry Drew (Jake Weber), a young employee of William but she feels that their relationship lacks depth and passion, and wanted something much more.

Then she meets a very attractive young man(Brad Pitt) in a cafe, who combines appealing words with a penetrating gaze. They engage in a conversation and become captivated with each other. Then, he hastily leaves and is hit by a car and killed soon after.

That evening, Susan arrives at her family home, only to meet the same man (Brad Pitt) once again, but this time inhabited by death itself.
Death who takes the form of the young man Susan met at the cafe tells William that he was there, as has been arranged by Higher Authorities, to escort him to the afterlife.
"Death" is intrigued by human life and wants William to act as a guide and in exchange, would delay William's doomsday.
William eagerly agrees to this arrangement and introduces him as "Joe Black" to the family.

The bond between Joe and Susan intensifies as he stays on in the house, which results in a growing romantic attraction, but she's unaware of his true identity and Joe, in turn, develops feelings for Susan which complicates his entire mission.

This movie is an invitation to pause, reflect, and re-examine the fleeting beauty of existence. This is not just a film for me, it is an experience, a reminder that love, in all its forms, is the most profound answer to life’s deepest questions.

Hopkins is perfect. Pitt is perfect. Forlani is perfect. The whole cast did their jobs admirably well. Anthony Hopkins plays the role of William Parrish with grace, wisdom, and vulnerability. A beautiful flow emerges in his journey through death and the overwhelming acceptance of life.

Brad Pitt, as Death, a character named Joe Black, turns in a magnificent performance as well, through love and human connection, Joe finds a heart.

Susan, played by Claire Forlani, gives a certain maturity to the film, with a subtle and touching performance.

I am rating it a 9/10

I remember this movie very well because of its crazy beginning. It starts off in a very normal and calm way, thinking that you are going to see a typical American romantic story with Brad Pitt as the main character... until "BAM!" you find out that it isn't and it blows your mind with a tremendous ending. Excellent movie and even more so with the cast of actors it has.

Good review.
