Cinderella... The good old fairytale...CineTv Contest
A modern movie musical that I have come to love so much, it is a gem of a fairytale retelling, and also one of my all time favourite.
In this 2021 version of Cinderella, all Ella (Camila Cabello) wanted, was to become a renowned fashion designer. She lives with her cruel stepmother Vivian (Idina Menzel) and two stepsisters, who never stop belittling her dreams, but she is determined to struggle to make her dreams come true and carve a niche for herself in the world of fashion.
When Prince Robert (Nicholas Galitzine) announces a big ball, Ella considers it the event that may put her designs in the limelight. Her fabulous godmother(Billy Porter) helps transform her into a beauty, who catches the eye of the prince but Ella was much more interested in her dreams than in romantic involvements.
Ella was rather able to inspire Prince Robert to rebel against his royal duties and follow a life that has meaning. Ultimately, Ella transforms her dreams into reality while finding love in the arms of the Prince. I am so glad that she broke her glass ceiling and her career as a dressmaker takes off in grand style.
It features a storyline of women empowerment, Independence, self-belief, and defiance against social notions and most importantly, following one's passion no matter the odds against one. Ella is the name of the heroine who aspires to become a design mogul and start her own business someday. It sends across a very strong message on themes that many would find relatable.
That a woman must 'catch' a man to marry her and take care of her or else she is regarded as worthless, are notions that are gradually fizzling out.
I see it as a fun and refreshing take on the fairytale itself.
The actors were wonderful, bringing each character to life in a very unique way. Amazing choreography and beautiful costumes.
I must give it to them that they were great singers, I mean Camilla Cabello and Idina Menzel on-board, each song of Cinderella would surely stick in my head for a long time to come, especially "A Million To One, Material Girl and Somebody to Love, they all made this movie a great watch.
A very great movie and I will rate it a 9/10.
It is available on Amazon prime today.
