Work It : Dancing Through the Screen
It’s no news that I can’t dance to save my life but to my hive folks, it probably is. I remember back in my university days how my roommate would always force me to dance with her but after two tries she just gives up on me cause apparently, I’m a lost cause when it comes to dancing.
I’m good at so many things but I wouldn’t say dancing is my strongest area, so in a way I have given up on dancing. Maybe one day, I might give it a try. This movie (Work it) is one I’ve watched over and over again because it gives me goosebumps every time I watch it and also gives me hope that if I try harder, I might be able to dance and it’s all in my head.
The movie starts with Sabrina Carpenter playing the lead role as Quinn Ackerman, an 18 years old students with straight A’s trying to make it to her dream college. This dream of hers stemmed from the fact that her had who died some years ago went there and they made so many memories there together as a family.
Over the years, she and her mom had wanted nothing more than she going to school at the same college her father did. Probably in hopes that they both might find the solace they once did there. Quinn, in her quest to achieve her goal finds herself in deep trouble as she ends up lying to the interviewer at her interview for her application at Duke University.
Sometimes, people do get away with lies but unluckily for Quinn, she didn’t because lying that she was part of the school dance team to look like an applicant that blows the box up got the interviewer looking forward to seeing her dance moves at the upcoming dance competition.
It was too late to give up and so, with the help of her childhood best friend by name Jas, she managed to form a team with other students who had excellent dance skills, and even in the process got a coach to train them who ended up being her boyfriend. For this movie, the story ends in a good way.
I would rate this movie a 9/10 because I’ve probably seen it so many times I can recite the words even if I’m just woken up from my sleep. There’s nothing extra about it but yeah, it’s a good show.
This movie thought me that not everything comes easily and sometimes , no matter how hard we work, we don’t always end up getting what we wanted but most likely better than what we even wanted. All that mattered was us seeing it from a different point of view.
I saw how a young lady who knew nothing about dancing ended up beating the dance gurus in her school all because she refused to give up on her goals. Sometimes, the thought of failure is enough to push us to do things we never imagined. No one wants to be a failure in anything and so, the best solution for us all is to keep pushing and working harder cos with each hour and day that we practice, we get better at what we do.
I’d definitely recommend this show to everyone out there. It’s a great one!
Anything is possible, the limitations are of the mind.
I'm sure you would do just fine in dancing, if you put your mind to it.
Thank you for the recommendation.
I guess I’d have to make use of this motivation.🤭

This is one film I can watch many times and not be bored. The dance alone adds so much spice to everything, and Sabrina was truly in her element here. About dancing, I'll let you in on a secret later, lol. Nicely done!

Limitation is in the mind. I was happy she won alongside her team in the final competition. An excellent movie review!
