Dragon (2025) Review: A Balanced Blend of Comedy, Drama, and Life Lessons

I saw a movie, the movie had a big impact on me. What movie? I saw a movie called Dragon. It's on Netflix, a very popular movie. It came out a while ago, but for some reason I didn't see it. I got recommendations from many people that the movie was very good. So I finally watched it. It's on Netflix, available in Hindi. Pradeep Ranganathan is playing the lead role here.

Dragon Trailer

I'm not saying that this kind of story hasn't happened before. But after watching this movie, something will remain in my mind. Because the thing that the movie is saying—this is success, behind which we work from morning till night, that we will get success in life—what is the definition of this success? What is success? A person pushing another person, throwing him away, and pushing him forward, is that only called success? Or is success that I will not let anyone else down, that I will constantly change myself, correct my mistakes, get up every time I fall, and run after success again—is that success? Which one is success? The way this message comes across in this movie is outstanding.

Story Overview

Now let me tell you the story of the movie. The story is very simple. A boy, who is very good at studies, passed school. Now he has gone to college. What generally happens? After passing school and going to college, he falls into a huge ocean. So generally, children grow a little fins. His fins will also grow a little, his studies will be worse than before. He is expelled from college. Now he has to do something in life. His dreams are very big. He thinks, I will move forward in life by taking a shortcut. He gets a job in a big company, commits fraud. This two-and-a-half-hour movie is about what happens in his life after this fraud.

Positive Aspects

Now the positive side. The thing you will like the most is that every department of this movie is arranged in a very balanced way. None of them is overpowering the other. For example, when the comedy is shown in this movie, you will laugh and have fun. It will seem like you are watching something very fresh. Things are presented very well. But when the emotional aspects are shown, towards the end, the movie becomes very emotional. There, your eyes will water. This drama, romance, comedy, emotion—everything has been kept in the proper proportion. None of them overpowers the other. It will be so nice to watch.

Along with that, the message given here is mainly two messages. One, you cannot rise up by taking shortcuts. If you take shortcuts, it will throw you down in life, some day or the other. Two, nothing starts with a lie. Even if you start something by lying, ultimately that lie will drag you back. The way these two messages are delivered is very good.

Acting & Performance

Talking about the performance, Pradeep Ranganathan is outstanding. It would be wrong to talk about him only. Everyone—his mother, father, girlfriend, would-be wife, teacher, office boss, friends—everyone has performed outstandingly. There is a character called Chhota Dragon in particular, he is hilarious. You will enjoy watching that character. These characters have supported him well. You will see the performance at a high level.

Every relationship here has been given time. A two-and-a-half hour movie, simple subject. At first, you might think, why does it take so much time? But as I watched, I realized that as it moves towards the end, every relationship, every character has been given proper time. There was no rush anywhere. A boy's relationship with his friends, his relationship with his mother, his relationship with his girlfriend, his relationship with his office boss, his relationship with his college teacher—these relationships take time to build. However, the emotion builds up in the last part, tears come out of the eyes. Time has been given to these things, so it is two and a half hours. And that seems justified.

My favorite is the relationship between the father and the son. These two characters create magic. Especially the father's character is outstanding. When you see him, you will sometimes feel happy, sometimes sad, sometimes you will feel like a poor person, sometimes you will feel like such a person is needed. This character is written outstandingly, and the portrayal is also outstanding.

Technical Aspects

The music work is very good. The songs are okay, but the BGM has uplifted the movie in many places. There is no such negative aspect. Only one thing, things become a little more magical towards the last part. It seems that these are possible because they are movies. It is nice to see on screen, but in real life it may be stressful. Especially the last scene. They will feel a little that they do not fit with reality. Apart from that, there are no other negative aspects.

Final Verdict

The movie makes you laugh, makes you cry, teaches you the value of relationships, teaches you to tell the truth, explains the meaning of success. And explains what a person who wants to be successful should do. It's on Netflix, available in Hindi.

Man, the film just has it all. I admire hus resilience to keep pushing and life and not giving up despite his shortcomings. Really inspiring.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Totally agree—his resilience is what makes Dragon so inspiring. The way he keeps pushing forward despite all the setbacks really hits home and motivates us to stay strong in our own journeys. Glad you loved it as much as I did.
