Tòkunbò...A Gripping Story Of A Stab In The Back!
Life happened in this thrilling suspenseful movie that will keep your eyes glued to your TV set for the whole duration.
"Tòkunbò" is a 2024 Nigerian action thriller directed by Ramsey Nouah, a delight when it comes to movie-making and directing. It features as its lead actor, Gideon Okeke, as Tokunbo, a former car smuggler drawn back into crime in an attempt to urgently raise money for his son's medical treatment. The film delves into themes of betrayal, desperation and moral dilemmas, set against the backdrop of Nigeria's current socio-economic challenges.
The plot;
Tokunbo's story is about Tokunbo Akindele (Gideon Okeke), a former car smuggler, who had succeeded in making a new life for himself and was now living a quiet and crime-free life with his family. Then tragedy strikes when his son is diagnosed with a heart condition which requires an urgent surgery to correct.
Having to raise the huge amount of cash needed becomes a very big problem for Tokunbo, who finds himself in a moral dilemma.
Desperate to save his son's life, Tokunbo finds himself reluctantly returning to the crime he had left behind, a high-profile car-smuggling job that would have been his last. Then the deal goes awry, chaos ensues, as he finds himself in a reticulating web of betrayal, violence, and survival.
Then the son dies and all hell is let loose!
Will Tokunbo be able to extricate himself from the jaws of the daredevil underworld or will he be able to escape the long arms of the law?
Find out in this film that intensely explore the themes of desperation, morality, and the unfathomable lengths a parent would go for his/her child. Set against the intolerably grim backdrop of Nigeria's socioeconomic realities, "Tokunbo" is a most delightful combination of drama, action, emotion, and suspense.
Actors' performance;
This excellent plot was beautifully interpreted by the actors, I was taken in by the performance of young Nike, I would say that she is the best character and also the best act hands-down. She will become a great actress when she grows up. Adunni Ade, Majid Michel, Chidi Mokeme all slayed their roles and the lead actor, Tokunbo, ofcourse delivered the "the goods" perfectly 😁
I love the use of the Nigerian pidgin English language, it flowed so naturally.
This ranks as one of my best Nollywood movies and I am rating it a 9/10.
Thank you very much for your continuous support 🙏
Wow that's an intriguing storyline, I really should start checking out more options in Nollywood to see hehe.

Thank you very much 🙏
That kind of situation when one needs to return to his spit...I perfectly understand that situation of Tokunbo
To give it a 9/10, this means it's a bit hit.
It's a terrible situation to be in... Honestly, especially when you are left with no other choices.
Thank you very much 🙏
Yeahh.
May God not allow us to be in such situation
