Seven Doors | When Forefathers Mistake Haunt The Upcoming Generation

Kind of like the way Yoruba movies are shifting courses and changing their pattern since when they start listing them on Netflix, one blockbuster to another, diving deep into the norms, traditions and speaking more on the history of Yorubahood, from Lisabi to Bashorun Gaa and now Seven Doors, I kind of saw it among the upcoming movies and also seen lot of feedback from people waiting for the movie to arrive, this particular movie have a lot of lessons hidden inside it especially when it come to kingship/enthronement, back then I do think when it come to picking a king, they have to vote or just pick someone from a family until I started watching Yoruba movies and get to understand some things, they don't just pick from any family but just one family, kind of hereditary and they are chosen by the elders known as the kingmakers who do consult the oracle.

Back to the Seven Door Movie, I had to watch it before spoilers will start their gossip, first scene was really scary, I was actually eating breakfast and all of a sudden 7 women were falling to their death from the top of a water fall and the way they did the wound/blood look somehow to the extend that I almost lost my appetite, I had to skip that scene because I don't even know why they were just committing suicide (so I thought) at some point I was curious to know whey but they some something else, the movie is actually a good one but will just put it in 7 ways. First part was The Greed and Corruption, there is this saying that in a town that there is no leader, there will some group of tyrant doing the way they like, this town lost their king and for 3years, some set of chiefs took it upon themselves to act in a selfish and greedy way, they have their own group of tout disturbing the peace of the community, they engage in land selling, and once they sell the land to an individual, they will sell the same land to another, according to them they own it and they can do anything they like, at some point they started collecting people lands, destroy their houses just to resell the land forceful to another person, since their is no king available to caution them, they keep doing what they like.

Then the Romance part came in through a couple in another part of the town, the guy so much love is family and 2 children to the extend that he came do anything for them, he is a yoruba man but married an Igbo woman, at some point I do wish such love really still exist and also their bond look unbreakable until Tradition came in, the man came from the royal family (those in like to be king) and when the kingmaker consult the oracle, he was the one chosen to be the next king, the elders in his family came to give him the news but he rejected the offer, he doesn't want it because you cant get the title with just ordinary eyes, also at some point, there is someone else who want to be the king and ready to do anything it takes, he keep bribing the greedy chiefs with gift and all. The chosen king couldn't reject the offer for long because his wife convince him to take the throne and rule as their king, he yield to her request and went home to be crown but that was the genesis of their problem.

To be a king, you have to follow the traditions, he passed through some process, sleeping in the secret room and came out alive, then went into a battle with a spirit and still came out alive, with all the prayers and celebration, his tenure started experiencing some calamities, first his eldest daughter die all of a sudden and the town was in chaos, when they consult the oracle they were inform the king was the cause, apparently he was instructed from the beginning that he need to knock seven doors for his reign to be peaceful, I was thinking sacrificing 7 virgins (lol) but he was instructed to marry 7 wives (6 plus his wife) but he couldn't because he love his wife so much, it reach to a point that he had no other choice, he can't leave the throne or kill himself and his wife felt Betrayed

He was told the genesis of the whole problem, how his forefather fought for the throne and kill his brother so he could be king but his life was short-lived, so for him to live longer, he went into some secrecy with a powerful man and use his 7 wives as sacrifice to be able to live long, it was an evil act, this powerful man also took over and was controlling the community the way he like but at the end he was humiliated and banish so he turn to an evil deity outside the community. Now the extra 6 wives were big trouble in the palace because he couldn't love the equally but the community was peaceful for the main time until he sent the whole 6 wives away again and things scattered, people kept on dying daily and he had to call the wives back and love them equally, but he still need to defeat the deity for peace to reign but at the expense of his life
