Saturday Movie Suggest: Cabrini

Hello dear ladies and gentlemen of the #LadiesOfHive Community, on this lovely Saturday I came across an inspiring movie based on the true story of a woman who fought against racism, inequalities, and the plight faced by Italian immigrants in the United States.

Spoiler Alert

While the movie diverges greatly from what can be found on Wikipedia about the protagonist, that does not diminish the merit of the work that was built on perseverance and faith.

The movie was released in 2024 and was directed by the Director of Sounds of Freedom, so you may assume it is part of the Catholic lobby to highlight the virtues of this religion, although in my opinion, what is achieved is only confirming that the Vatican and the Catholic Church are, in their hierarchy, mere bureaucrats.

Political and religious issues aside, it seems to me a life story worthy of being better known because the obstacles that Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini overcame were not few.

She overcame the aftermath of a disease that, according to medical prognoses, gave her no more than 5 years to live. She overcame the sexism of her time, including the skepticism of the Catholic hierarchy that saw little possibility in the missionary work led by women.

She overcame the prevalent xenophobia during the first wave of Italian immigration to the United States and achieved goals that no one even dreamed she could accomplish.

Beyond her faith, the important thing is the seed of leadership and empowerment that she planted for women in an era dominated by men.

Hola queridas damas y caballeros de la Comunidad #LadiesOfHive , en este lindo sábado me topé con una película inspiradora basada en la vida real de una mujer que luchó contra el racismo, las desigualdades, y el desamparo al que estaban sometidos los inmigrantes italianos en Estados Unidos.

Si bien la película dista bastante de lo que podremos encontrar en Wikipedia de la protagonista, eso no le resta mérito alguno a la obra que construyó a base de constancia y fé.

La película fue estrenada este 2024, y fue dirigida por el Director de Sounds of Freedom, por lo que podrán suponer que es parte del lobby católico para poner bajo el reflector las bondades de esta religión, aunque para mi criterio, lo que se logra es confirmar que el Vaticano y la Iglesia Católica son en su jerarquía simples burócratas.

Cuestiones políticas y religiosas aparte, me parece una historia de vida digna de ser más conocida, porque los obstáculos que superó Santa Francisca Javiera Cabrini, no fueron pocos.

Superó secuelas de una enfermedad que según pronósticos médicos no le daban más de 5 años de vida. Superó el machismo de su época, incluído el escepticismo de la jerarquía católica que veía con pocas posibilidades la labor misionera liderada por mujeres.

Superó la xenofobia reinante durante la primera ola de inmigración italiana a los Estados Unidos y logró metas que nadie soñaba siquiera con que podría lograr.

Más allá de su fé, lo importante es la semilla de liderazgo y empoderamiento que sembró para las mujeres en una época dominada por hombres.
