If It’s Blurry, I’m Out: My Struggle for Video Quality

When it comes to media quality, I can honestly say I care a lot. I may not be a total tech-savvy person, but I still love it when what I'm watching is clean, clear, and enjoyable to the eyes. I currently don’t use Netflix, but I do spend a lot of time on YouTube and another app called Movie Box to watch movies. And when I’m watching, I always try to set the picture quality to at least 480p or higher—anything less just feels like punishment.

Now, I don’t usually go all the way up to 1080p. But then I’ll admit, the one time I watched a movie on YouTube in 1080p, I was blown way . Everything was crystal clear—the colors were vibrant, and I could see every single detail. It was such a beautiful experience that I didn’t want it to end. That one time really made me realize how much of a difference quality makes when watching something. I honestly wish I could watch everything in 1080p, but data in this country is gold, so I have to pick my battles.

Most times, I stick to 480p and 540p or 720p if I feel like I have a little more data to spare. But the truth is, I absolutely hate blurry videos. Like seriously, they annoy me so much. If I start a movie and it's all foggy and pixelated, chances are I’ll stop watching it completely. What’s the point if I can’t even see the characters’ faces clearly or follow what’s happening? Sometimes, it’s like I’m watching a ghost movie when it’s just a regular drama.

Even when I download movies, I try to make sure I pick the high-quality ones. I don't like downloading a movie and then finding out it looks like it was recorded with a potato, it just normally spoil the whole vibe. For me, clear visuals makes the watching experience more immersive.

Another thing that really messes with video quality is network issues. So on those days when my network is bad or slow, I tend to just stop streaming videos entirely. YouTube especially can be annoying with this. One minute you’re watching your video in 480p or 720p, and the next minute it just drops to 240p out of nowhere. That’s when the pictures start getting blurry and I begin to lose interest. At that point, I either pause and wait for it to load in better quality, or I just close the app and move on to something else. It's honestly one of the most frustrating things ever.

So yeah, I do care about video quality a lot. Maybe not to the point where I always go for the highest quality every single time, but I definitely can’t stand poor quality videos. They ruin the whole watching experience for me. Good visuals matter, and I believe that’s the best way to truly enjoy any kind of video content.

Thanks for reading.

I hare blurry videos, too but no matter what now, I download videos with 1080p/HD mode because I really do want to enjoy what I'm feeding my eyes with and not bothered about data. Gone are those days now. But there are times I would want to stream movies on YouTube but once the network is bad and the quality starts to reduce, man, I just stop and download when the network is good.
