Choosing who to save is challenging.

Who never watched movies with important decision-makers pushing a bottom to release a nuclear bomb to fight a menace to humanity? In the end, the risks of pushing this bottom would also kill a big part of humanity or sacrifice the town where this monster or alien was located. How that would work in real life? Do how decision makers, like the government, would act with that? I remember also watching zombie movies where the government did a quarantine and to avoid spreading the zombie infection also locked innocents together with the zombies. How to manage risk when you are a decision-maker?

image.png

For my luck probably I won't need to take this type of decision ever, and for now we can only imagine this type of situation. The closest that we had to an apocalypse type of situation was the COVID pandemic which for sure passed very far from being a mortal pathogen that could end with the human race. However, we saw some panic behavior during the pandemic. The first one was the lack of a vaccine for the pathogen until a couple of months after the pandemic. In that period we saw the first dose of the vaccine being sold only to rich countries. I remember that some rich countries decided to buy a large lot of the vaccine and the poor countries no one cared.

If we saw that with an easy pandemic with a slow death rate doing that to the decision makers, imagine now a deadlier event. For sure the poor countries would suffer a lot since the rich countries would only try to focus first on their population, and for sure if they can't focus on all their population they would start to filter out, giving priority to friends and the richer part of society. What if I was a president of a country with this power of decision? It is tough to make this decision for sure, but for sure I would try to save the much as I could from a catastrophe like that.

For sure my decision wouldn't be to let everyone suffer if I can't help everyone. Probably it is the same decision of a rescuer firefighter during a fire or a disaster. THats what they do, they try to save as many as they can, and unfortunately many times they can't save everyone. They need to live their lives trying to rise up with a conscience free of guilt after losing some lives. Selecting those where you can extend your hand to live normally is the best that you can do. For sure that's what I would do as a decision maker during a catastrophe. I would Try to save as many people as possible, but not I wouldn't use friendship and money as a filter.

image.png

Living your life with the guilt that some people are suffering or dying because you couldn't save them is tough. But when you look to the other side and see all the people that you could save during a catastrophe is at least a medal for those who are the rescuers. I am not talking about those people saying "thank you" all the time or a physical medal, but a medal in their mind to relieve them from the pain of not being able to save all the people. I guess that what I think about this type of situation is deciding where I could save as many people as possible. I wish that our government would think in the same way dealing with this type of situation. Being fair with your own population.

Hahahahha well i think we need to preserve and give value to our life first! But what about if you could save more? Who you would gonna pick?
!BBH

depends on the value and the goals of that certain condition

if it is a zombie apocalypse, I won't pick a brainless hot babe. It lessen my chance to survive.

during the covid, I learned that the one I should help first is the one that could recover quickly then he/she could help others too.

during the collapse of my office due to covid, the ones I helped first were the bottom employees and single mothers, because they had the lowest odd to survive if they did not compensate well enough.

so back to our goal itself.

don't even remind me of the covid era lol I think I must be the person who caught covid the most times ... 4 times until today xD, never with serious side effects not even the first time! I think we all know that there is a hierarchy and that the government is never interested in the people who are at the bottom of the "pyramid"... the "non-essential" ones. I think that watching so many movies I learned that we are the ones who make the most important decision to safeguard the lives of our loved ones... I clearly will ignore the government and act to save my family and I always make the best decision to isolate myself to avoid depending on third party decisions... because in moments of panic nobody knows how to act but yourself.

I think in a role of a regular citizen (aka me right now) I would do the same. I was thinking as a person on the top of the things, if I was a president of a country, I would have more people than my family right now!

there is the saying here 'mors tua, vita mea' which means "your death,my life" ....pretty much sums up how world goes

Sad but true...It is about human nature...sad but if we keep reminding ourselves that we get into depression!!

I'm just imagining all the older edition citizens that I've experimented on in dCity turning them into Sick Citizens just to better utilize tax revenue hahaha. The President even made @armero city and token with people calling it a corporation.

People sent their sick citizens to one location for him to manage and dispense dividends back. I even sent and few and hold some Armero haha I found it is better to just hold custody of your own assets though lol to think about real people like this is awful.

We certainly can't save everyone, or can we? From what? and When? Are we capable of being in all places at all times? God Help us all to save ourselves. XD

Governments are never logical for fair with their own people. It's all about who you know, take care of your buddies first. Sound familiar?
