Review of the movie The Life List [ENG-ESP]
I haven’t seen a movie like this for a long time, I mean the kind of movies that you know how they are going to end but the way to that end is so beautiful that you don’t stop watching because you want to see that ending that you know what it is. When I say that I hadn’t seen one like this for a long time, it’s not because this one was perfect, but because I had spent my time watching other genres that I like more. But at this moment I needed something like this and seeing Sofia Carson on the cover I decided to watch it without any expectations, I thought I was going to finish it in three parts and that sometimes happens to me with movies, but no, because I could not fall asleep until I finished, that only thing that tells me according to my experience, is that I liked it and that the pace of the story was quite bearable and entertaining.

Tenía tiempo que no veía una película con esta, me refiero a la clase de películas que sabes cómo van a terminar pero que el camino hasta ese final es tan bonito que no dejas de ver porque quieres ver ese final que sabes cual es. Cuando digo que tenia tiempo sin ver una así, no es porque está haya sido perfecta, sino porque había dedicado mi tiempo a ver otros géneros que me gustan más. Pero en este momento me hacía falta algo así y viendo a Sofía Carson en la portada me decidí verla sin ninguna expectativa, pensé que iba terminarla como en tres partes y es que a veces me pasa con las películas, pero no, porque no me pude quedar dormida hasta que no termino, eso lo único que me dice según mi experiencia, es que si me gustó y que el ritmo de la historia fue bastante llevadero y entretenido.
The story is about Alex (Sofia Carson) a girl in her thirties who for some reason abandoned her vocation as a teacher and continued her life without something that made her special, her mother knew it and although in life did not find a way to motivate her to be her, because somehow Alex was convinced that she led a messy life and began to settle for what gave her stability at the sentimental and work level, but those things did not make her feel satisfied with her life.
Elizabeth (Connie Britton), Alex’s mother, has a recurrence of cancer and does not want to undergo treatment again but to live quietly and prepare for her departure. When the time comes for the reading of the will, Alex learns that his mother has left him a task that he must fulfill before the new year in order to receive his inheritance. The lawyer only gives her an envelope with a CD where her mother will explain what she has to do and why she has to do it, explaining that while she was arranging everything for her departure she found among her things (moms keep many things that we believe are important for our children) a sheet written by Alex when she was 13 years old, it is a list of wishes that she wanted to fulfill in her life, but she had not done anything and her mother thought that if Alex could make this list she would be able to find herself and take back the reins of her life.

La historia se trata sobre Alex (Sofía Carson) una chica de unos treinta años que por alguna razón abandonó su vocación de maestra y siguió su vida sin algo que la hiciera especial, su madre lo sabía y aunque en vida no encontró la manera para motivarla a ser ella, porque de alguna forma Alex se convenció de que llevaba una vida desordenada y se empezó a conformar con lo que le daba estabilidad a nivel sentimental y laboral, pero esas cosas no la hacían sentir satisfecha con su vida.
Elizabeth (Connie Britton), madre de Alex presenta una recidiva del cáncer y no desea someterse nuevamente al tratamiento sino vivir tranquila y preparar su partida, cuando llega la hora de la lectura del testamento, Alex se entera que su madre le ha dejado un tarea que debe cumplir antes de año nuevo para así poder recibir su herencia. El abogado solo le entrega un sobre con un CD donde su madre le va a explicar que es lo que tiene que hacer y porque tiene que hacerlo, explicándole que mientras estaba arreglando todo para su partida encontró entre sus cosas (las mamás guardamos muchas cosas que creemos son importantes para nuestros hijos) una hoja escrita por Alex a sus 13 años, es una lista de deseos que quería cumplir en su vida, pero que no había hecho nada y la madre pensó que si Alex lograba realizar está lista se iba a poder encontrar a si misma y retomar las riendas de su vida.

The list is written by a 13 year old girl and people change their tastes and wishes, but the first wish was to become the best teacher, which means that since she was a little girl she had wanted to become a teacher, so having left the profession could have caused Alex a disillusionment that has led her to settle for what she got. In the rest of the wishes there is nothing like jumping on Benji or some extreme sport, the truth is that it is a pretty boring list like reading a certain super long book, doing good to other people and as a last wish to find true love.
One of the wishes is to reconcile with her father, with whom she has had a bad relationship after the divorce with her mother, not because he has moved away but because she began to feel that he judged her, although parents are there to worry and tell certain truths when they are necessary, because if they don’t do it, who does?
I liked all the secondary characters, they all played their part very naturally. I loved the brothers, united, with different characters and the scene of desire with them I liked very much for the complicity and why they were honest with her about what they have also felt, so as to show her that she is not the only one who has suffered or has had a misgiving in her heart. Her friends, as they should be according to her personality. Brad (Kyle Allen) who is the lawyer and caretaker of the CD’s, he had to be supervising that the list was being fulfilled which made a friendship grow in which he helped Alex to finish the list. Garrett (Sebastian de Souza) a great prospect to fulfill the last wish of the list.

La lista está escrita por una niña de 13 años y las personas cambian de gustos y deseos, pero el primer deseo era convertirse en la mejor maestra, lo que quiere decir que desde pequeña había querido convertirse en maestra, por lo que haber dejado la profesión pudo haber causado en Alex una desilusión que la haya llevado a conformarse con lo que le tocaba. En el resto de los deseos no hay nada como saltar en Benji o algún deporte extremo, la verdad es que es una lista bastante aburrida como leer cierto libro súper largo completo, hacer el bien a otras personas y como último deseo encontrar al verdadero amor.
Uno de los deseos es reconciliarse con su padre, con quién ha tenido mala relación después del divorcio con su madre, no porque él se haya alejado sino que ella empezó a sentir que la juzgaba, aunque los padres están para preocuparse y decir ciertas verdades cuando son necesarias, porque sino lo hacen ellos, quién?
Los personajes secundarios me gustaron todos, todos hicieron su parte muy naturalmente. Los hermanos me encantaron, unidos, con diferentes caracteres y la escena del deseo con ellos me gustó mucho por la complicidad y por qué fueron sinceros con ella de lo que ellos también han sentido, de manera de demostrarle que ella no es la única que ha sufrido o que ha tenido un recelo en el corazón. Los amigos de ella, pues como deberían ser según la personalidad de ella. Brad (Kyle Allen) quien es el abogado y cuidador del los CD, él tenía que estar supervisando que la lista se estuviera cumpliendo lo que hizo que creciera una amistad en la que él ayudo a Alex a terminar la lista. Garrett (Sebastián de Souza) un gran prospecto para cumplir el último deseo de la lista.
It is a film that fulfills its function of entertaining and leaves you with a feeling of tranquility because you can empathize with the character and the relationships that are formed little by little, so the end is so satisfying that it comforts you and makes you feel happy. Well, that’s the purpose of this kind of movie, so it’s perfect if you want to spend an afternoon and forget about your problems and fill yourself with Alex’s problems because hers will be solved and she will find what she wants so much.

Es una película que cumple con su función de entretener y que te deja con un sentimiento de tranquilidad porque logras empatizar con el personaje y las relaciones que poco a poco se van formando, así que el final se te hace tan satisfactorio que te reconforta y te hace sentir hasta feliz. Bueno, ese es el propósito de este tipo de película, entonces es perfecta si quieres pasar una tarde y olvidarte de tus problemas y llenarte de los de Alex porque los de ella se van a resolver y encontrará lo que tanto desea.

Parece una trama argumentativa bastante simple, pero el trasfondo es bastante complicado porque trata sobre nuestros porpósitos en esta vida y qué es lo que verdaderamente nos hace felices...
Muchos de nosotros hemos pasado por esos momentos donde no sabemos qué hacer con nuestra vida, y quizá en ese sentido siempre podremos empatizar con un personaje que se está tratando de encontrar a sí mismo, como Alex.

The idea of the mom leaving her the wish list from when she was a kid so she can find herself again... what a cute detail, sounds like it could be very touching. And you're absolutely right, sometimes you just know how these movies are going to end, but if the journey is nice and you like the characters, they're a joy to watch! Just as you say, they are for having a good time and forgetting about the problems, connecting with Alex's story. That the list includes things like becoming a teacher again, fixing the relationship with dad and finding love sounds like a journey of complete rediscovery. Thanks for sharing!
