The 96th Oscars were held on Sunday and you've probably already seen the names of the winners and the highlights. Oppenheimer swept the show, taking seven awards. Finally, a Christopher Nolan film was awarded as the best of the year and the acclaimed director also won in his category. He had to film a biopic of a central character in the modern history of the United States and the world, which lasted three hours, did it in IMAX and became a box office success, marking the massive return of people to movie theaters so that the Academy finally surrendered at his feet. But I'm happy for him. Poor Things won four statuettes and again a Martin Scorsese film left with zero awards from ten nominations (it happened before with Gangs of New York and The Irishman). There was a second Oscar for Robert Downey Jr., for Emma Stone and for Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell, among others, and throughout the ceremony there was a climate of mutual support and recognition between nominees and winners. But the best of the night was Ryan Gosling. Not only did he have one of the funniest interactions (when he presented a recognition to the stunt doubles with Emily Blunt and they joked about Barbenheimer) but his live performance of the song I'm Just Ken was one of the best in recent years . The set design winking at Madonna and Marilyn Monroe, his performance, Slash's appearance at the end of the song and Ryan's interaction with the audience, everything was incredible. Oppenheimer swept the awards, but Ryan stole the show.

El domingo se celebró la 96a entrega de los premios Oscars y seguramente ya habrán visto los nombres de los ganadores y los momentos más destacados. Oppenheimer arrasó, se llevó siete premios. Finalmente una película de Christopher Nolan fue premiada como la mejor del año y el aclamado director ganó también en su categoría. Tuvo que rodar una biopic de un personaje central en la historia moderna de EEUU y el mundo, que durase tres horas, hacerla en IMAX y que se convirtiera en un éxito de taquilla marcando el regreso masivo de las personas a las salas de cine para que la Academia por fin se rindiera a sus pies. Pero estoy feliz por él. Poor Things ganó cuatro estatuillas y nuevamente una película de Martin Scorsese se fue con cero premios de diez nominaciones (la pasó con Gangs of New York y The Irishman). Hubo un segundo Oscar para Robert Downey Jr., para Emma Stone y para Billie Eilish y Finneas O'Connell, entre otros, y durante toda la ceremonia hubo un clima de apoyo mutuo y reconocimiento entre nominados y ganadores. Pero lo mejor de la noche fue Ryan Gosling. No sólo tuvo una de las interacciones más divertidas (cuando presentó un reconocimiento a los dobles de acción junto a Emily Blunt y bromearon son Barbenheimer) sino que su interpretación en vivo del tema I'm Just Ken fue una de las mejores de los últimos años. La escenografía haciendo un guiño a Madonna y Marilyn Monroe, su interpretación, la aparición de Slash al final de la canción y la interacción de Ryan con el público, todo fue increíble. Oppenheimer arrasó con los premios, pero Ryan se robó el show.

On Sunday afternoon I uploaded a post with my candidates to win in twenty of the categories (the link can be found at the end of this post) and I had 93% correct. In 18 of the categories I guessed the winner with my first option (I add 5 points for correct), in one of them I guessed correctly with my second option (I add 3 points) and only in one did the Academy surprise me: Best Sound, which took it The Zone of Interest. Y otra gran noticia es que establecí un nuevo registro personal. El domingo por la tarde subí una publicación con mis candidatos a ganar en veinte de las categorías (el enlace lo pueden encontrar al final de esta publicación) y tuve un 93% de aciertos. En 18 de las categorías acerté el ganador con mi primera opción (sumo 5 puntos por acierto), en una de ellas acerté con mi segunda opción (sumo 3 puntos) y sólo en una la Academia me sorprendió: Mejor Sonido, que se lo llevó The Zone of Interest. With that, the awards season comes to an end and we prepare for another year full of good cinema in which we can now begin to outline some of the films that will be nominated for next year (Dune: Part 2, for example). I can't wait to see what they will show us in Cannes, Venice, Berlin, and which directors will be back releasing something during 2024. Long live good cinema.

Con eso se da cierre a la temporada de premios y nos preparamos para un año más cargado de buen cine en el cual ya podemos comenzar a perfilar algunas de las películas que serán nominadas para el próximo año (Dune: Part 2, por ejemplo).
