WICKED!

I know that this movie review may be a little bit late.. but this movie is so good to the point that I will be forever obsessed with it after I watched it on its day of release. The movie is based on a theater musical and a book series that is also based or inspired by the story of The Wizard of Oz. THAT'S RIGHT! Wicked is not canon to the world of the Wizard of Oz. It is basically an AU (Alternate Universe) where we see the upbringing of certain characters from the original show and how they came to be the person that they have become, and it mostly focuses on the life of the Wicked Witch of the West and how she meets Glinda, the good witch at the start of The Wizard of Oz.

I recommend watching Wicked yourself if you're a fan of musicals or a fan of the original source material, The Wizard of Oz!! I personally have not watched the musical itself since it isn't really accessible to me here in the Philippines. But there are theatrical plays here, it is just that I don't have the money to watch any of them lol. Watching a live musical has also been a long-time dream of mine and I hope to be able to do that in the future. The music though!! It eats every single time I listen to them on my regular playlist. I love it so much that I act like singing in concerts and feel like I'm Elphaba while I bathe.

ITS ARIANA AND CYNTHIA!!!!

THEY REALLY NAILED IT WITH THE CASTING FOR THIS!! Ariana was the perfect actress for the role of Glinda as she HIT that note at No one mourns the wicked. Her passion for her character only fueled her already-peak performance. While I know who Ariana is, I have only discovered Cynthia Erivo through Wicked. It turns out she is a very renowned singer and actress who is one Oscar away from becoming an EGOT awarded Actress/Singer! Her ability to sing such high notes for long periods of time LIVE... yes, LIVE. She sang her songs live while doing flying stunts during the filming of Wicked! That is such an amazing feat and I love her for that.

ITS COMING!!!!!!!!

The currently available movie is actually just part 1 of what I believe is a two-part movie the second movie will be coming this year on November 21st, exactly 1 year apart from the last movie. The first movie ended with so many questions to the point that it has been eating me away to madness and I just cannot wait for the next movie! I know that I can just read the book but I don't really like books so I'll just wait patiently.

I wanted to talk about my one-sided beef with Glinda as a character but I'm afraid that it'll reveal too many spoilers haha. I also would have gotten deeper with the music but it'll also take too long and it's already 12 am here at the time that I'm writing this LOL. ok, have a good night everybody!
