Esta película es fuerte. Pero no es violeta. Esto no es un John wick en el que vas a ver sangre salpicando tiros para atrás y Kung fu. Pero la carga emocional de esta película te golpea casi tan duro o más duro John wick. Joder... ¿Por dónde comienzo? Esta película nos narra un pequeño pedazo de la vida de Pamela Anderson que hace el papel de Shelly Gardner. Ella es una bailarina dentro de un show en las Vegas llamado Razzle Dazzle. Y este show va a cerrar. Entonces toda esta película sucede en las dos semanas, bueno en las dos últimas semanas del show antes de que lo cancelen por completo y estas bailarinas se queden sin trabajo. Entonces ahí tienes un motivo para sentirte mal, ahí tienes un motivo para sentir ansiedad ya que nuestra protagonista tiene los últimos 30 años de su vida trabajando para este show. Nunca hizo más nada, se dedicó a esto por completo y no tiene opciones para el futuro próximo. Mientras esto sucede ella está intentando arreglar su relación con su hija. A lo largo de la película se especifican los términos de esta relación entonces no quiero ahondar mucho en el tema para no hacer ningún tipo de spoilers. La cosa es que ella quiera arreglar su relación con su hija mientras su vida laboral se está desmoronando y tú ves como las dos cosas chocan y todas como para peor. Entonces toda la película es como ver un barco hundirse y no poder hacer absolutamente nada al respecto. Y de esta manera la película mantiene un ritmo imparable de constante ansiedad. Y esto no para hasta que la película termina. Es impresionante el trabajo que hicieron las personas que escribieron esto para mantenerte guindando de un hilo por una hora y media.

This movie is tough. But it's not purple. This isn't a John Wick where you're going to see blood splattering, backflips, and Kung Fu. But the emotional charge of this movie hits you almost as hard or harder than John Wick. Fuck... Where do I start? This movie tells us a little piece of the life of Pamela Anderson who plays the role of Shelly Gardner. She's a dancer in a show in Las Vegas called Razzle Dazzle. And this show is going to close. So this whole movie takes place in the two weeks, well in the last two weeks of the show before it's completely cancelled and these dancers are out of work. So there you have a reason to feel bad, there you have a reason to feel anxious because our protagonist has the last 30 years of her life working for this show. She never did anything else, she dedicated herself to this completely and she has no options for the near future. While this is happening she is trying to fix her relationship with her daughter. The terms of this relationship are set out throughout the film, so I don't want to go into it too much to avoid giving away any spoilers. The thing is that she wants to fix her relationship with her daughter while her work life is falling apart and you see how the two things collide and everything is getting worse. So the whole film is like watching a ship sink and not being able to do anything about it. And in this way the film maintains an unstoppable rhythm of constant anxiety. And this doesn't stop until the film ends. It's impressive the work that the people who wrote this did to keep you hanging by a thread for an hour and a half.

La actuación de Pamela Anderson es interesante. Algunas críticas dicen que es uno de los papeles más importantes de su carrera. Su personaje siempre está en un estado constante de ansiedad al igual que esta película ya que todo lo que está haciendo le sale mal de una o de otra forma. Y eso lo transmite a través de sus expresiones faciales y hace un muy buen trabajo. Su rostro me recordó al de Ellen Burstyn en la película Requiem For A Dream. Son expresiones faciales como deconstruidas, son como desfiguradas y hay mucha tensión. Todas estas piezas ayudan a que la película sea así como una sobrecarga de estrés y eso me pareció abrumador. También está el personaje de Dave Bautista este pana es un actor interesante porque siempre hace como el mismo papel muy tranquilo sosegado. Su rostro siempre está como apretado -si lo han visto actuar saben exactamente a qué me refiero-. Me parece que fue una adición sólida el personaje de soporte qué hace. Me gusta verlo en pantalla realmente es un muy buen trabajo y la forma en la que lo presentaron en esta película era una que yo no había visto antes ya que esta vez tiene peluca entonces verlo con cabello es como una sorpresa. Hace un buen trabajo y la forma en la que su personaje está escrito me pareció inteligente. Porque todas estas mujeres hablan de él así como de manera medio despectiva y eventualmente tú entiendes por qué. No es que él sea malo sino que bueno… si ve en la película van a entender exactamente lo que me refiero porque tines que verlo, es algo en su forma de actuar. Y creo que fue un trabajo de guión muy bien hecho. Jamie curtis también tiene un rol semi protagónico dentro de la peli. Bueno es de reparto, pero me parece que su personaje es como full importante y creo que los que hicieron la película se quisieron aprovechar de sus habilidades de danza y de quien es ella, obviamente, pero de una manera así como mórbida e incómoda. Como dije esto es un barco que se está hundiendo desde que comienza la peli y este personaje también la está pasando mal. Es una chica que ya dejó sus años dorados atrás y de alguna u otra forma los extraña e intenta recordarlos bailando. Ella tiene un segmento en el que hace un solo de danza y es ligeramente incómodo porque la forma en la que sucede, el lugar en el que sucede está muy forzado pero ella lo necesita para sentirse bien. Sin embargo ya es tarde para realmente poder vivir de eso o ejercerlo. Lo ves en su físico, lo ves en cómo se está desmoronando.

Pamela Anderson's performance is interesting. Some critics say it's one of the most important roles of her career. Her character is always in a constant state of anxiety just like this movie since everything she's doing goes wrong in one way or another. And she conveys that through her facial expressions and she does a very good job. Her face reminded me of Ellen Burstyn's in the movie Requiem For A Dream. They're facial expressions that are deconstructed, they're kind of disfigured and there's a lot of tension. All of these pieces help make the movie like a stress overload and that seemed overwhelming to me. There's also Dave Bautista's character, this guy is an interesting actor because he always plays the same role, very calm and collected. His face is always kind of tight - if you've seen him act you know exactly what I'm talking about. I think he was a solid addition, the supporting character he plays. I like seeing him on screen, he really does a very good job and the way he was presented in this movie was one I hadn't seen before since this time he has a wig on so seeing him with hair is like a surprise. He does a good job and the way his character is written I thought was clever. Because all these women talk about him in a kind of derogatory way and eventually you understand why. It's not that he's bad but well… if you watch the movie you'll understand exactly what I mean because you have to see it, it's something in his way of acting. And I think it was a very well done script job. Jamie Curtis also has a semi-leading role in the movie. Well, it's a supporting role, but I think her character is kind of important and I think that those who made the movie wanted to take advantage of her dancing skills and of who she is, obviously, but in a kind of morbid and uncomfortable way. As I said, this is a ship that's been sinking since the movie starts and this character is also having a hard time. She's a girl who's already left her golden years behind and in one way or another she misses them and tries to remember them by dancing. She has a segment where she does a dance solo and it's slightly awkward because the way it happens, the place it happens is so forced but she needs it to feel good. But it's too late for her to really be able to live off of it or exercise it. You see it in her physique, you see it in how she's falling apart.

La dirección me pareció un poco a la de Sam baker. Ya saben el tipo detrás de Anora, Red Rocket. Hay mucha cámara en mano y eso está chévere. Me gusta la artisticidad detrás de varias de las escenas a lo largo de la película. Hay tomas muy cool en las que las personas bloquean el sol y quedan en contraluz y le da un toque único, acompañando el silencio de los personajes. Me pareció que lgunas de las escenas que estaba ligeramente distorsionadas. Esto tiene que ver con los lentes de cámara, el enfoque y creo que Gia Coppola quería darle bastante textura a la peli. Creo que lo logra aunque a veces se me hace que lo intenta tanto que cansa. Recuerdo algunas tomas dentro de la casa que estaban así como grabadas casi que con un ojo de pescado porque todos los laterales de la imagen se distorsinaban. Lo único que pensé fue que la directora quería darle algo de vida a una situación que era bastante cotidiana como una conversación dentro de un apartamento y bueno nada... está bien. Mad Reeves usa mucho ese tipo de efectos en Batman. Lo que le da una estética sucia. Y acompaña a esta suciedad con fuego, lluvia y muchas otras cosas que hacen a esta distorsión muchísimo más interesante. Aquí nuestra directora está dando fuertes pasos en esa dirección.

The direction seemed a bit like Sam Baker's to me. You know the guy behind Anora, Red Rocket. There's a lot of handheld camera work and that's cool. I like the artistry behind several of the scenes throughout the film. There are very cool shots where people block the sun and are backlit and it gives it a unique touch, accompanying the silence of the characters. I thought that some of the scenes were slightly distorted. This has to do with the camera lenses, the focus and I think Gia Coppola wanted to give the film a lot of texture. I think she achieves it although sometimes it seems to me that she tries so hard that it gets tiring. I remember some shots inside the house that were almost like filmed with a fisheye lens because all the sides of the image were distorted. The only thing I thought was that the director wanted to give some life to a situation that was quite everyday like a conversation inside an apartment and well, nothing... it's okay. Mad Reeves uses a lot of those types of effects in Batman. Which gives it a dirty aesthetic. And she accompanies this dirt with fire, rain and many other things that make this distortion much more interesting. Here our director is taking strong steps in that direction.

Mi conclusión sobre esta película es que fue una buena idea. Y aunque muchos de los elementos estaban bien, como la calidad de los actores y la estética de la dirección hubo otras cosas que podrían mejorar para la próxima entrega. A veces el ritmo se me hacía algo pesado. Me parecía que algunas escenas duraban un poco más de lo que debieron haber durado. Y gracias a estas cosas me dio la impresión de que es Gia está en camino a hacer muchísimo mejor, siendo este trabajo ya bastante bueno. Ahora en cuanto a sí recomiendo o no esta película, es complicado. Esta película no me hizo sentir bien en ningún momento. Y creo que eso nos muestra el buen trabajo que hicieron las personas detrás de la cinta a la hora de escribir, pero no la vería de nuevo. Y no sé si recomendarla porque si yo me sentí tan mal viendo la película no me gustaría que otras personas se sintieran igual de mal. Así que quizás no la recomendaría porque no es una experiencia placentera. Sin embargo es un buen trabajo a nivel técnico y creo que hay cosas que cualquier fanático del cine podría saber apreciar. Y es chévere ver a estos Titanes en pantalla grande unidos en este drama. Creo que tanto coppola como Anderson hacen un trabajo increíble. La verdad a la altura en esta entrega. Me gustaría ver qué otras cosas tienen entre manos para los próximos años. Ahí tienen The last show girl. My conclusion about this movie is that it was a good idea. And although many of the elements were good, such as the quality of the actors and the aesthetics of the direction, there were other things that could be improved for the next installment. At times the pace felt a bit heavy to me. It seemed to me that some scenes lasted a bit longer than they should have. And thanks to these things I got the impression that Gia is on her way to doing much better, being this work already quite good. Now as to whether I recommend this movie or not, it is complicated. This movie did not make me feel good at any point. And I think that shows us the good work that the people behind the film did when writing, but I would not watch it again. And I don't know if I would recommend it because if I felt so bad watching the movie I would not want other people to feel as bad. So maybe I would not recommend it because it is not a pleasant experience. However, it is a good job on a technical level and I think there are things that any film fan could appreciate. And it's great to see these Titans on the big screen united in this drama. I think both Coppola and Anderson do an incredible job. They're really on top of their game in this installment. I'd like to see what else they have in store for the next few years. There you have The last show girl.
