Review Troll Hunters : Tales Of Arcadia (esp/eng)

Esta serie fue producida por Guillermo Del Toro, creador de grandes producciones como El Laberinto Del Fauno, La Forma del Agua, Hellboy, Titanes Del Pacífico, etc. Basada en el libro del mismo nombre y creado también por Guillermo Del Toro, nos cuenta la vida de Jim Lake, un día mientras va a la escuela escucha una voz que lo llama desde un amuleto que lo elige como el nuevo caza troles, un cargo que nunca había tenido un humano, encargado de enfrentar trolls malvados y otras amenazas.

Trollhunters parece estar enfocada en un público infantil, pero el primer episodio logra enganchar a los espectadores ya que nos muestran un mundo facinante por explorar. Cada personaje presentado está muy bien establecido y su desarrollo se construye muy bien a lo largo de las tres temporadas de esta serie, dónde profundizamos en sus conflictos, como Jim que fue abandonado por su padre y fue criado solo por su madre, o su amigo Tobias quien fue criado solo por su abuela.

En el transcurso de las tres temporadas de esta historia vemos a los personajes recorrer aventuras que les dejarán lecciones importantes para cada nuevo problema que debían enfrentar, ese crecimiento es muy natural y es muy agradable de ver. Se tocan temas como la perdida, la familia, amistad, amor, temas con los que espectadores de todas las edades pueden conectar. Las situaciones que los personajes enfrentan resaltan la importancia del coraje, la sinceridad, responsabilidad y el deber.

Lo más llamativo de esta historia es como crearon todo un mundo y sociedad para los trolls, tienen sus costumbres, historia, idioma, pueden ser tranquilos y pensativos, alegres y entusiastas, o de carácter fuerte, todo ese mundo es único y maravilloso, dan ganas de visitarlo.

Los villanos aunque pueden ser los típicos malvados solo porque si están muy bien escritos, cumplen bien su papel como grandes amenazas y cada vez que aparecen logran transmitir que son amenazas para los héroes de la historia, además que sus diseños son de lo mejor de la serie.

Ha ganado varios reconocimientos como tres premios Annie en Diseño De Personajes, Storyboarding y Animación, entre muchos otros reconocimientos que demuestran el amor con el que se hizo esta historia.

Esta serie comparte un mismo universo con otras dos series llamadas 3 Below y Wizard que expanden todo lo que ya vimos en Trolhunter de una manera que no contradicen lo que ya se nos mostró, de hecho se pueden ver en cualquier orden, aunque lo mejor es empezar por Trollhunters y luego ver las otras dos en cualquier orden.

El único pero que tengo es la película El Despertar de los Titanes, que se supone es el gran final de esta historia épica, para empezar Del Toro casi no estuvo involucrado, y al ser una cinta todo se siente muy condensado y apresurado, claramente tenían mucho por contar y no el tiempo suficiente, sin embargo fue una conclusión decente.

Entre tantas animaciones que destacan solo por lo visual estamos ante una gran obra que nos maravilla en lo visual y lo narrativo, una historia que vería una y otra vez.

This series was produced by Guillermo Del Toro, creator of great productions such as Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, Hellboy, Titans of the Pacific, etc. Based on the book of the same name and also created by Guillermo Del Toro, it tells us the life of Jim Lake, one day while going to school he hears a voice calling him from an amulet that chooses him as the new troll hunter, a position that a human has never had before, in charge of confronting evil trolls and other threats.

Trollhunters seems to be focused on a child audience, but the first episode manages to hook viewers as we are shown a fascinating world to explore. Each character presented is very well established and their development builds very well throughout the three seasons of this series, where we delve into their conflicts, such as Jim who was abandoned by his father and was raised alone by his mother, or his friend Tobias who was raised alone by his grandmother.

In the course of the three seasons of this story we see the characters go through adventures that will leave them important lessons for each new problem they had to face, that growth is very natural and it is very nice to see. It touches on themes such as loss, family, friendship, love, themes that viewers of all ages can connect with. The situations the characters face highlight the importance of courage, sincerity, responsibility and duty.

The most striking thing about this story is how they created a whole world and society for the trolls, they have their customs, history, language, they can be quiet and thoughtful, cheerful and enthusiastic, or strong-willed, that whole world is unique and wonderful, it makes you want to visit it.

The villains although they can be the typical evil ones just because they are very well written, they fulfill their role as great threats and every time they appear they manage to transmit that they are threats to the heroes of the story, besides their designs are among the best of the series.

It has won several awards such as three Annie Awards in Character Design, Storyboarding and Animation, among many other awards that demonstrate the love with which this story was made.

This series shares the same universe with two other series called 3 Below and Wizard that expand everything we already saw in Trollhunter in a way that does not contradict what we were already shown, in fact they can be watched in any order, although it is best to start with Trollhunters and then watch the other two in any order.

The only but I have is the movie The Awakening of the Titans, which is supposed to be the grand finale of this epic story, for starters Del Toro was almost not involved, and being a tape everything feels very condensed and rushed, clearly they had a lot to tell and not enough time, however it was a decent conclusion.

Among so many animations that stand out only for the visuals we are in front of a great work that amazes us visually and narratively, a story that I would watch over and over again.
