Singing in My Sleep [ENG-ESP]

As people you must learn to leave the past behind, prepare to move on. We know that many times we have people in our lives that do us no harm, even our own family, but it is also true that we must stay with the good side of things. I mention this because recently I was looking for a movie to watch and I saw that Singing in My Sleep was available and I decided to watch it and today I will tell you my opinion.

Como personas debes aprender a dejar el pasado atrás, prepararse para continuar adelante. Sabemos que muchas veces tenemos personas de nuestras vidas que no hacen daño, incluso nuestra propia familia, pero también es cierto que debemos quedarnos con el lado bueno de las cosas. Esto lo menciono porque recientemente estaba buscando que ver, una película y vi que estaba disponible Singing in My Sleep y decidí verla para el día de hoy comentarles mi opinión.

The story tells us about a girl who has a great talent for music, she is a great composer and singer, whose talent she inherited from her father, who died tragically. The truth is that I thought the story was nothing more than that, but the reality is that Charlotte was abandoned by her father, a famous singer who was a womanizer, never took care of his son, which marked the girl's life. Charlotte had to live in the shadows of her father and she wanted to get away from everything that had to do with him, but his shadow always haunted her. On the anniversary of her father's first album, the young girl is invited to sing at the tribute and that is where a series of situations begins from which we can draw different messages that can help us to reflect.

La historia nos cuenta sobre una chica que tiene un gran talento para la música, es una gran compositora y cantante, cuyo talento lo heredó de su padre, quien murió trágicamente. La verdad es que pensé que la historia quedaba nada más en esto, pero la realidad es que Charlotte fue abandonada por su padre, un cantante famoso quien era mujeriego, nunca se hizo a cargo de su hijo, lo que marcó la vida de la chica. Charlotte tuvo que vivir en las sombras de su padre y ella quería alejarse de todo lo que tuviese que ver con él, pero su sombra siempre le perseguía. En el aniversario del primer disco de su padre, la joven es invitada a cantar en el homenaje y allí es donde comienza una serie de situaciones de la cual podemos sacar diferentes mensajes que nos pueden ayudar a reflexionar.

Charlotte is a rather cheerful young girl, who does direct to raise money to be able to leave the place where she comes from, to try to get away from the memories of her father, Jack. A girl who inside was suffering after the abandonment, with a relationship with her mother (Mary) a little particular, which at times was not the best, but, however, was always her great support, just the shadow of abandonment truncated their lives. We also have Barry, who is Charlotte's best friend, but beyond friendship you can tell that the feelings go beyond just friends. But I guess they never gave each other a chance because of the young woman's fears.

Charlotte es un joven bastante alegre, que hace directos para reunir dinero para poder irse del lugar donde viene, para tratar de alejarse de los recuerdos de su padre, Jack. Una chica que por dentro sufría tras el abandono, con una relación con su madre (Mary) un poco particular, que por momentos no era lo mejor, pero, sin embargo, siempre fue su gran apoyo, simplemente la sombra del abandono truncó sus vidas. También tenemos a Barry, quien es el mejor amigo de Charlotte, pero más allá de la amistad se nota que los sentimientos van más allá de solo amigos. Pero supongo que nunca se dieron la oportunidad debido a los temores de la joven.

A story that is a cliché, I've seen several similar stories, but I'm left with the development of it, it helps us to reflect on abandonment and that we must overcome it in some way or another, in order to move forward. A simple film that does not try to be what it is not and that is what I liked the most. A drama of 2024 that was digested by Nick Wilson who was also in charge of the script. I must say that this film is not the best I've seen of the genre, but I consider that it fulfills, it has its details, but in a little more than an hour and thirty minutes, it has a good story, no more than that.

Una historia que es un cliché, he visto varias historias parecidas, pero me quedo con el desarrollo de la misma, nos ayuda a reflexionar sobre el abandono y que debemos superarlo de alguna u otra manera, para poder continuar adelante. Una película sencilla que no trata de ser lo que no es y fue lo que más me gustó. Un drama del 2024 que fue digerido por Nick Wilson y quien también estuvo a cargo el guion. Debo decir que este filme no es de lo mejor que he visto del género ni mucho menos, pero considero que cumple, tiene sus detalles, pero en un poco más de una hora y treinta minutos, tiene una buena historia, no más que eso.

The cast seems to me to be the right one, most of them did a good job, nothing outstanding, but they did the job. Jessica Belkin gave life to the role of Charlotte, doing a job that I liked, although at times I must say that I was not completely convinced, but in general she fulfilled what her character asked for. Jacob Bond played the best friend of the protagonist of Born to Sing, doing a job that I consider impeccable. The same happened to me with Malin Åkerman, who was Mary in the movie, Charlotte's mother, having a great performance, being one of her favorites of the three characters I have mentioned so far. What I liked was to see more development of some characters, but I also understand that the plot that was wanted to be shown was simple and not a complex story. Something simple that the audience could hang out with and in that regard I think it delivers.

El cast me parece el correcto, la mayoría hicieron un trabajo correcto, nada sobresaliente, pero sí cumplieron con el cometido. Jessica Belkin le dio vida al papel de Charlotte, haciendo un trabajo que me gustó, aunque por momentos debo decir que no me convenció del todo, pero en general cumplió con lo que pedía su personaje. Jacob Bond hizo del mejor amigo de la protagonista de Nacida para Cantar, haciendo un trabajo que considero impecable. Lo mismo me ocurrió con Malin Åkerman, quien fue Mary en la película, la madre de Charlotte, teniendo una gran interpretación, siendo de sus favoritas de los tres personajes que he mencionado hasta el momento. Lo que me gustó fue ver más el desarrollo de algunos personajes, pero también entiendo que la trama que se quería mostrar era sencillo y no una historia compleja. Algo sencillo con que el público pudiera pasar el rato y en cuento a eso creo que cumple.

The cinematography I thought was pretty good, nothing exceptional, but it did accomplish what was wanted. We also have quite striking locations, although most of the story takes place in Charlotte's house and in the place where she works, a music store. What I must highlight is the soundtrack, I really loved it and I consider it the best of the film and it could not be otherwise as it is a production about music. We have beautiful themes that accompany the story, especially the emotional ones. I must say that the film almost brought tears to my eyes, although this did not happen in the end, but there were several moments where it did touch me deeply and gave me a lot to think about, and that is what I still have the most of the film.

La fotografía consideró que estuvo bastante bien, nada excepcional, pero sí cumplió con lo que se quería. También tenemos lugares bastante llamativos, aunque la mayor parte de la historia se desarrolla en la casa de Charlotte y en lugar donde trabaja, una tienda de música. Lo que si debo destacar es la banda sonora, realmente me encantó y considero que es lo mejor de la película y no podría ser de otra manera al ser una producción de trata sobre la música. Tenemos temas hermosos que acompañan la historia, sobre todo aquellos emotivos. Debo decir que la película casi me sacan las lágrimas, aunque esto finalmente no ocurrió, pero hubo varios momentos donde sí toco lo más profundo y me dio en bastante que pensar y es con lo que más me queda de la película.

Born to sing, I can say that it is a good movie, but no more than that. It has a simple story and correct and not deep dialogues. The script was written by the same director, so I understand that he wanted to show a simple story and not make the same mistake as many films, where many times we don't understand several things in the story. I'm left with the message that we can get and with the great soundtrack. By the way, I saw it in Latin Spanish and I liked the dubbing, it was quite correct. Do I recommend it? It may not be a film for everyone, but if you like drama and music movies, this can be ideal to have a good time, although we should not expect much more than what we get. I give it a 7/10, a film that fulfills and not more than that as I said before.

Nacida para cantar, puedo decir que es una buena película, no más que eso. Tiene una historia sencilla y unos diálogos correctos y nada profundos. El guion estuvo a cargo del mismo directo, así que entiendo que quiso mostrar una historia sencilla y no cometer el mismo error que muchos filmes, donde muchas veces no entendemos varias cosas de la historia. Me quedo con el mensaje que podemos sacar y con la gran banda sonora. Por cierto que la vi en español latino y me gustó el doblaje, estuvo bastante correcto. ¿La recomiendo? Tal vez no sea un filme para todo el mundo, pero si te gustan las películas de drama y música, esta puede ser ideal para pasar un rato agradable, aunque no debemos esperar mucho más de lo que nos dan. Le doy un 7/10, una película que cumple y no más que eso como les dije anteriormente.
