Hay una industria del cine un tanto desconocida para muchos pero que sinceramente es una auténtica locura: Bollywood. Este film, ya denominado el probablemente más violento en la historia del cine de la India, es un golpe de adrenalina al cuerpo y es que desde el principio del mismo nos muestran la premisa de que será la típica película en donde la venganza, las peleas y las formas inimaginables de morir estarán a la orden del día. El cine de esa parte del mundo, dígase la India, Filipinas, Tailandia, Indonesia suele ser extremadamente gráfico y crudo, por aquellos lados no se andan mucho con cosas family friendly, cuando hacen una película subida de todo realmente se esmeran en ello. Esta no fue la excepción, poco más de hora y media llena de una acción vertiginosa.

There is a film industry somewhat unknown to many but which is honestly a real madness: Bollywood. This film, already called probably the most violent in the history of Indian cinema, is a shot of adrenaline to the body and from the beginning of it we are shown the premise that it will be the typical film where revenge, fights and unimaginable ways to die will be the order of the day. Cinema from that part of the world, say India, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia is usually extremely graphic and crude, they don't go too much with family friendly stuff there, when they make a movie with a lot of everything they really go all out. This one was no exception, just over an hour and a half full of fast-paced action.

En la India, y en muchos países en realidad, los matrimonios arreglados/concertados por los padres son una norma que sigue muy vigente y esto será el origen de esta historia. Amrit Rathod es un capitán del ejército quien está profundamente enamorado de Tulika, la hija de un magnate quien ya decidió el esposo para ella. Ellos al no estar de acuerdo buscarán estar juntos a toda costa y para eso tienen que llegar a Nueva Delhi en tren. Lo que no saben es que dicho tren está a punto de ser asaltado por una banda muy numerosa que evidentemente pondrá en peligro a todos los pasajeros, incluyendo a nuestros protagonistas. Leyendo esto supongo más o menos que sabrán por dónde va la cosa y si, este capitán junto a un compañero de armas que viaja con él se encargarán de poner fin a la amenaza que representa esta familia de ladrones.

In India, and in many countries for that matter, arranged marriages are still very much the norm and this will be the origin of this story. Amrit Rathod is an army captain who is deeply in love with Tulika, the daughter of a tycoon who has already decided on a husband for her. They do not agree and they will try to be together at all costs and for that they have to reach New Delhi by train. What they do not know is that the train is about to be assaulted by a very large gang that will obviously endanger all passengers, including our protagonists. Reading this I guess more or less that they will know where the thing goes and yes, this captain along with a companion in arms traveling with him will be responsible for putting an end to the threat posed by this family of thieves.

Pero no se confundan, muchos pueden pensar que esto es una historia vacía llena de acción y violencia sin sentido pero no es así, todo tiene un motivo y es que para mi sorpresa una de las aristas más importante de la trama es el amor; este será el verdadero motor que impulse a Amrit a actuar de la forma en la que lo verán a lo largo de la película. Este tipo de films los disfruto mucho porque el fin máximo de ellos es entretener, es que te quedes embelesado mirando a la pantalla con las secuencias de peleas cuerpo a cuerpo y con las macabras e ingeniosas formas de morir que nuestros protagonistas escogen para con sus rivales. Ya les digo yo que es imposible que te aburras porque este thriller no está hecho para eso, la tensión que se vive en ese tren es real y llena de adrenalina.

But make no mistake, many may think that this is an empty story full of action and senseless violence but it is not, everything has a reason and to my surprise one of the most important edges of the plot is love; this will be the real engine that drives Amrit to act the way you will see him throughout the film. I really enjoy this kind of films because the main purpose of them is to entertain, to keep you spellbound staring at the screen with the sequences of hand-to-hand fights and the macabre and ingenious ways of dying that our protagonists choose for their rivals. I tell you that it is impossible to get bored because this thriller is not made for that, the tension that you live in that train is real and full of adrenaline.

Todo lo que tiene que ver con lo visual es increíble porque tienen que tener en cuenta que esto se desarrolla en los pasillos de un tren en donde el espacio es limitado por lo que todo se vuelve muy claustrofóbico y en donde a pesar de eso las escenas de pelea son de alto nivel, me sorprendió mucho la gran movilidad y la destreza de algunos de estos actores. Si de por si hacer una coreografía de este estilo es complicado imagínense hacerlas en un lugar de menos de 1 metro de ancho. También hay que hablar de lo gráfica que es, hay mucha sangre, muchos cuchillos, huesos rotos, caras destrozadas, degollaciones; un sin fin de muertes que lo que hacen es aumentar la vistosidad de la película. Si eres fanatico de este tipo de cosas te aseguro que la vas a disfrutar.

Everything that has to do with the visuals is incredible because you have to take into account that this takes place in the corridors of a train where space is limited so everything becomes very claustrophobic and where despite that the fight scenes are of high level, I was very surprised by the great mobility and skill of some of these actors. If doing a choreography of this style is complicated, imagine doing it in a place less than 1 meter wide. We must also talk about how graphic it is, there is a lot of blood, many knives, broken bones, shattered faces, slit throats; an endless number of deaths that make the film even more eye-catching. If you are a fan of this kind of things I assure you that you will enjoy it.

Hablando de los personajes y de sus actuaciones hay que decir algo. Estos actores no son iguales a los de este lado del charco, sus interpretaciones son muchos más vividas y más emocionales pero no por una decisión de guión sino porque así son realmente, frente a la cámara pareciera que sobreactúan pero no es así, creo que es parte de su idiosincrasia. Habiendo dicho esto, no son malos los actores, sobretodo el protagonista Laksh Lalwani quien no tiene nada que envidiar a cualquier buen actor occidental de artes marciales. Buenos recursos de pelea y definitivamente sabe lo que hace frente a la cámara. Todos los demás personajes van en la misma senda solo que a él lo destaco por razones obvias.

Speaking of the characters and their performances, something must be said. These actors are not the same as the ones from this side of the pond, their performances are much more vivid and more emotional but not because of a script decision but because that's how they really are, in front of the camera they seem to overact but it's not so, I think it's part of their idiosyncrasy. Having said that, the actors are not bad, especially the protagonist Laksh Lalwani who has nothing to envy to any good western martial arts actor. Good fighting skills and definitely knows what he is doing in front of the camera. All the other characters are in the same vein, but he stands out for obvious reasons.

En fin, una película llena de mucha acción, suspenso, un thriller muy violento pero satisfactorio. También tiene su parte emotiva, como dije el amor será el combustible acá que buscará suavizar un poco la trama y darle un contraste necesario. Muy recomendable, en lo personal la disfruté bastante. Le doy un 8/10. La finalidad de la película es cumplida a la perfección. Dura poco más de hora y media. Les dejo el tráiler por acá abajo.

In short, a film full of action, suspense, a very violent but satisfying thriller. It also has its emotional part, as I said love will be the fuel here that will seek to soften the plot a little and give it a necessary contrast. Highly recommended, personally I enjoyed it a lot. La descripción de las escenas de pelea en un espacio tan reducido suena impresionante; debe ser un verdadero desafío para los actores. Es interesante cómo mencionas que sus actuaciones pueden parecer sobreactuadas, pero en realidad es parte de su estilo. Eso le da un toque único a las producciones de esa región. Me gusta que le des un 8/10, eso indica que, a pesar de sus excesos, logra cumplir con su objetivo de entretener. Gracias por compartir.

Si te gusta el género y que todo sea extremadamente violento pues esta es la película para ti. Este cine tiende a ser infravalorado, este film demuestra que no se debería de pensar así. Es muy top.
