[Doble review] [Eng | Esp] The Exorcism of God | The Pope's Exorcist
Welcome my dear traveling exorcists from the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, demonic possessions have been one of the most exploited themes in cinema over time, being a timeless theme it is always very interesting, last weekend I wanted to see films with this theme and ended up getting two films that met my expectations called “The Exorcism of God” and “The Pope's Exorcist”. Without more to add, put on your stoles and take a crucifix that we are going to expel evil.
Bienvenidos mis queridos exorcistas viajeros del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, las posesiones demoniacas han sido uno de los temas que más se han explotado en el cine a lo largo del tiempo, siendo un tema atemporal siempre resulta muy interesante, el fin de semana pasado me dieron ganas de ver filmes con esta temática y termine consiguiendo dos películas que cumplían mis expectativas llamadas “The Exorcism of God” y “The Pope's Exorcist”. Sin más que agregar pónganse sus estolas y tomen un crucifijo que vamos a expulsar al mal.
The Exorcism of God was released in 2022, led by Alejandro Hidalgo, produced by Epica Pictures, Kabche Film Production and Mouth of the Devil Films Terminal, has a duration of 1 hour and 38 minutes. It is a story of terror and supernatural suspense, it focuses on Father Peter who has the task of exorcising a demon who finds himself possessing a young girl, however he was not prepared to carry him over so the demon ends up owning him and forcing him to break one of his priestess vows, 18 years later that terrible demon comes back to torment Peter again.
The Exorcism of God fue estrenada en 2022, dirigida por Alejandro Hidalgo, producida por Epica Pictures, Kabche Film Production y Mouth of the Devil Films Terminal, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 38 minutos. Es una historia de terror y suspenso sobrenatural, se enfoca al padre Peter el cual tiene la tarea de exorcizar a un demonio que se encuentra poseyendo a una joven, sin embargo no se encontraba preparado para llevarlo acabó por lo que el demonio termina poseyéndole y obligándole a romper uno de sus votos sacerdotales, 18 años después ese terrible demonio vuelve para atormentar nuevamente a Peter.
The Pope's Exorcist was released this year, he's based on the memories of Father Gabriele Amorth "An Exorcist Tells His Story" and "An Exorcist: More Stories", the film was directed by Julius Avery and produced by Screen Gems, has a duration of 1 hour and 43 minutes. It is also a horror film and supernatural suspense, this focus on Father Gabriele Amorth who is the personal exorcist of the pope, is a pragmatic man in terms of exorcisms and that same practice that puts him in trouble with the vatican, despite being an exorcist, he claims that most possessions are not such but psychological problems, however, when they send him to a true demissal possession.
The Pope's Exorcist fue estrenada este año, se encuentra basada en las memorias del padre Gabriele Amorth “An Exorcist Tells His Story” y “An Exorcist: More Stories”, el filme fue dirigido por Julius Avery y producido por Screen Gems, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 43 minutos. También es un filme de terror y suspenso sobrenatural, este enfoca al padre Gabriele Amorth el cual es el exorcista personal del papa, es un hombre pragmático en cuanto a lo que se refiere a exorcismos y es esa misma practicidad la que lo mete en problemas con el vaticano, pese a ser exorcista alega que la mayoría de las posesiones no son tal cosa sino problemas psicológicos, sin embargo cuando lo envían a una verdadera posesión demoniaca de un infante este deberá poner todos sus conocimientos teológicos para poder enfrentarse a ese mal.

In both films the soundtrack is just as decent, it is what can be expected from the tapes of this gender fulfilling its task of helping to generate situations of tension, although I must mention that in this subparagraph The Pope's Exorcist highlights more since it gives it better use.

The Exorcism of God does not make either good or bad use of this subparagraph, along the film the stage is changed on a couple of occasions but this is not really something that is taken advantage of, the above is because it does not use the context to generate suspense through objects or shadows being something that weighs quite due to the genre of the film.
The Exorcism of God no hace ni buen ni mal uso de este apartado, a lo largo del filme se cambia en un par de ocasiones el escenario pero esto no es realmente algo que sea aprovechado, lo anterior se debe a que no usa el contexto para generar suspenso mediante objetos o sombras siendo algo que pesa bastante debido al género del filme.
The Pope's Exorcist is more conservative in this particular, most of the filme happens on the same stage and knows how to take advantage of it both to generate suspense and to enrich the narrative; the use of shadows and notorious differences between times make their context feel extremely pleasant and very well implemented.

This is the point of greatest difference between the films and this is because in The Exorcism of God everything feels very exaggerated with blood scenes that are more unpleasant than fear, in turn the suspense (Gender to which it is supposed to belong) is non-existent because it introduces roughly persecutions and action sequences that are inconsistent with what was supposed to be attempted to build in the first moment. Outside of the above there is not much more to add, the tape has abrupt changes of intensity that do not feel good for it since it does not use its moments of tranquility to delve into the demon or some interest but in memories that while they give some context they do not decently fulfill this function. To specify with this subparagraph, there are some twists and others but these are too soft to take them seriously.
Este es el punto de mayor diferencia entre los filmes y esto se debe a que en The Exorcism of God todo se siente muy exagerado con escenas de sangre que resultan más desagradables que de miedo, a su vez, el suspenso (Género al cual se supone que pertenece) es inexistente debido a que introduce de forma brusca persecuciones y secuencias de acción que son incongruente con lo que se supone que se intentaba construir en un primer momento. Fuera de lo anterior no hay mucho más que agregar, la cinta tiene cambios abruptos de intensidad que no le sientan bien puesto que no utiliza sus momentos de tranquilidad para ahondar en el demonio o algo de interés sino en recuerdos que si bien dan algo de contexto no cumplen decentemente esta función. Para concretar con este apartado, existen algunos giros de tuerca y demás pero estos son demasiado sosos como para tomarlos en serio.

Por último, está el hecho de que existe una búsqueda del sacerdote para poder hacerse con las herramientas para enfrentarse al demonio en cuestión lo que permite ahondar en la historia y añadir algunos giros de trama interesantes.
The Exorcism of God lacks characters that are characterized in a decent way, being that even the protagonist lacks a remarkable personality that makes him memorable and being this the one that has the most focus, not much can be expected from the rest, although his past is known and their actions feel impersonal, all of this results in a total apathy for the characters something that prevents you from being able to empathize with them or make them feel plausible.
The Exorcism of God carece de personajes que se caractericen de forma decente siendo que incluso el protagonista carece de una personalidad destacable que lo haga memorable y siendo este el que más enfoque tiene no se puede esperar mucho del resto, si bien se conoce su pasado y sus acciones se sientan impersonales, todo esto resulta en una apatía total por los peronsjaes algo que impide que puedas empatizar con ellos o hacerlos sentir plausibles.
Once again, The Pope's Exorcist performs well in this section, although it does not present complex things such as development or three-dimensionality, it achieves a good characterization of its protagonist to the point that he feels jovial and pleasant, making it easy to empathize with him, added In addition to him, there is another character who also becomes relevant and who feels quite human with respect to the situation he is facing. The above being what allows one to become attached to them, in addition, some secondary characters have a decent relevance so as not to be entirely forgettable.
Nuevamente, The Pope's Exorcist tiene un buen desempeño en este apartado, si bien no presenta cosas complejas como un desarrollo o tridimensionalidad logra una buena caracterización de su protagonista al punto de que se siente jovial y agradable haciendo fácil que se pueda empatizar con él, sumado a él existe otro personaje que también cobra relevancia y que se siente bastante humano con respecto a la situación que se enfrenta. Siendo lo anterior lo que permite encariñarse con estos, además, algunos personajes secundarios tienen una relevancia decente como para no ser del todo olvidables.
Although both films are about exorcisms, there is a clear difference between their executions, The Exorcism of God being the one that performs in the worst way with easy and boring scares, a very poor development and generally lacking elements that make it stand out as a suspense film. , that is why it deserves 1.5 stars out of 7. For its part, The Pope's Exorcist maintains a good rhythm, has moments of relaxation that allow us to investigate the problem to understand it and to understand the circumstances that led to it, it is for these that it deserves 3 7 stars, although it has shortcomings, it is the best option in terms of current exorcism films that I have seen.
Si bien ambos filmes son de exorcismos existe una clara diferencia entre sus ejecuciones siendo The Exorcism of God la que se desenvuelve de peor forma con sustos fáciles y aburridos, un desarrollo paupérrimo y en general carecer de elementos que le hagan destacar como una cinta de suspenso, es por ello que merece 1.5 estrellas de 7. Por su parte The Pope's Exorcist mantiene un buen ritmo, posee momentos de relajación que permiten indagar en el problema para comprenderlo y poder entender las circunstancias que conllevaron a ello, es por estos que merece 3 estrellas de 7, si bien tiene carencias es la mejor opción en cuanto filmes de exorcismo actuales que he visto.

Hola querido amigo, yo tengo añooooos que no me veo una pelicula de terror sobre exorcismos porque siento que no dormiria nada en las noches jajaja me atacan las pesadillas sinceramente, pero veo que pudiste disfrutar más una de las dos peliculas, eso habla de la diferencia que tiene entre ambas y que una supero a la otra, pense que la del Exorcismo de Dios seria buena porque tiene una actriz venezolana muy querida, lastima que no fue asi, la otra no la conocia mucho, pero gracias por darnos esos dos lados de las peliculas, saludos.

Saludos amigo, haces unos días tuve la oportunidad de ver esta gran clásico, luego de que saliera ya que este genero de películas no es el mío, además la trama de la misma nos pone a pensar cómo puede suceder y cada uno de los secretos que se pueden encontrar en el baticanoy de esa manera crear una gran producción. Me sorprende la presencia de ese gran actor en la misma y le pone un gran toque. Estoy seguro de que esta trama tiene que continuar, ya que aún quedaron muchos secretos por revelar. Ambos filmes tienen un final abierto que deja la posibilidad de una secuela e incluso una trilogía, estoy de acuerdo contigo al considerar que otra película de The Pope's Exorcist no vendría nada mal. Saludos, amigo, tiene usted realmente valor. Yo no puedo ver uno solo de esos filmes, mucho menos dos, no dormiría en varios días sin apagar la luz y con cruces en puertas y ventanas.
Es un tema bastante aterrador, en el clásico del exorcista se cuentan historias detrás de cámara, de todos los eventos sobrenaturales que tuvieron que pasar los actores.
