¿De qué trata esta película?

Sin ánimos de hacer spoiler les contaré de forma general la historia, ya que la idea es que la vean y la puedan apreciar como yo lo hice. La película inicia con una familia de 4 personas que está en su yate en el medio del mar celebrando el cumpleaños de su hijo menor, tomándose unos días libres de vacaciones para disfrutar y compartir en familia, sin saber el peligro que se avecina.

Tom (Andreas Pietschmann) aprovecha la oportunidad de enseñar a su hijo a pescar mientras su esposa Julia (Émilie Dequenne) nada alrededor del yate cuando ésta es atrapada por una corriente marina tan fuerte que no la deja nadar para regresar, a pesar de sus gritos de auxilio su hija por estar escuchando música no la puede oír y no es hasta el final que su esposo se da cuenta y la rescata.

What is this movie about?

Without spoilers, I will tell you the story in a general way, since the idea is that you see it and appreciate it as I did. The movie starts with a family of 4 people who are on their yacht in the middle of the sea celebrating the birthday of their youngest son, taking a few days off from vacation to enjoy and share with family, unaware of the danger that lies ahead.

Tom (Andreas Pietschmann ) takes the opportunity to teach his son to fish while his wife Julia (Émilie Dequenne ) swims around the yacht when she is caught by an ocean current so strong that she cannot swim back, despite her cries for help her daughter cannot hear her because she is listening to music and it is not until the end that her husband realizes and rescues her.

En esta escena se puede notar que está iniciando una serie de movimientos debajo del mar que los peces y ballenas empiezan a tener un comportamiento extraño, avisando que algo está a punto de suceder, Tom no les presta mucha a tención y por la noche deciden cantar el cumpleaños de su hijo, cuando de repente empiezan a observar bolas de fuego cayendo del cielo, pero al acercarse más se dan cuenta de que son los satélites que están cayendo, ellos hacen todo lo posible por poner en marcha el yate en otra dirección cuando son arrastrados por el mar, quedando atrapados hasta el otro día.

Cuando despiertan se dan cuenta de que el mar ha desaparecido quedando en el medio del desierto sin noción de ubicación, ya que la brújula marcaba todo invertido, desesperados por saber lo que estaba ocurriendo empiezan a llamar por radio sin poder contactar a los guardacostas, en cambio, consiguen comunicarse con otro sobreviviente que se encontraba en un submarino del Departamento Oceanográfico, quien le confirmo que los polos de la tierra se había invertido, y que en 7 días el mar regresaría nuevamente por lo que tenían que salir de ahí y buscar una zona alta para poder salvarse o ir con él al submarino, pero solo tenía espacio para 2 personas.

In this scene you can notice that a series of movements is starting under the sea that fish and whales begin to have a strange behavior, warning that something is about to happen, Tom does not pay much attention to them and at night they decide to sing the birthday of his son, when suddenly they begin to observe fireballs falling from the sky, but as they get closer they realize that they are the satellites that are falling, they do everything possible to start the yacht in another direction when they are dragged by the sea, being trapped until the next day.

When they woke up they realized that the sea had disappeared and they were left in the middle of the desert with no notion of location, since the compass marked everything inverted, desperate to know what was happening they began to call by radio without being able to contact the Coast Guard, They managed to communicate with another survivor who was in a submarine of the Oceanographic Department, who confirmed that the poles of the earth had reversed, and that in 7 days the sea would return again so they had to get out of there and look for a high area to be able to save themselves or go with him to the submarine, but it only had space for 2 people.

Tom y Julia deciden llevar a sus hijos al Submarino para salvar sus vidas, sin importar la de ellos, pero durante la travesía no se imaginaban con todo lo que se iban a encontrar, teniendo que sacar fuerza para sobrevivir, al tener que enfrentarse con especies de animales carnívoros, así como la maldad de otras personas. Como toda película de catástrofes naturales, tiene muchas escenas que te hacen estar en alerta por lo que puede suceder, causándote mucha ansiedad, ya que no se puede poner en duda la fuerza de la naturaleza.

Tom and Julia decided to take their children to the Submarine to save their lives, regardless of theirs, but during the voyage they did not imagine what they were going to encounter, having to draw strength to survive, having to face carnivorous animal species, as well as the evil of other people. Like all natural catastrophe movies, it has many scenes that make you be on alert for what may happen, causing you much anxiety, since the force of nature cannot be doubted.

Reflexiones

Este tipo de film nos invita a reflexionar sobre lo minúsculo que es el ser humano ante la fuerza creadora de Dios, y valorar lo que realmente importa, que son los seres queridos que tenemos a nuestro lado. En momentos de un terremoto, tsunami o tornado vemos como lo material, por lo que a veces es un motivo de disgusto entre familiares, se pierde en menos de 5 minutos, demostrando que lo material es transitorio y que jamás debe anteponerse ante el amor. Poniéndonos a prueba en momentos de conmoción y desgracia, mientras unos ayudan al prójimo, son bondadosos y empáticos; otros lamentablemente son tan mezquinos que solo piensan en salvarse ellos mismos, siendo capaces de saquear y hasta matar a otra persona. Aspecto que se exponen claramente en varios personajes de esta película, donde se muestra lo peor del ser humano.

Reflections

This type of film invites us to reflect on how tiny the human being is before the creative power of God, and to value what really matters, which are the loved ones we have by our side. In moments of an earthquake, tsunami or tornado we see how the material, which is sometimes a reason for displeasure among family members, is lost in less than 5 minutes, demonstrating that the material is transitory and should never come before love. Putting us to the test in moments of commotion and misfortune, while some help their fellow man, are kind and empathetic; others unfortunately are so mean that they only think of saving themselves, being able to loot and even kill another person. This aspect is clearly exposed in several characters of this film, where the worst of the human being is shown.

Lamentable, aunque el final de la película no es muy alentador, se nos deja entrever que esta historia podría tener una segunda parte, que nos dé esperanza que el mundo será salvado y podamos recuperar la fe en nosotros mismos. Con respecto a las actuaciones sin duda la actriz Émilie Dequenne destaco en su rol teniendo una participación muy buena, ya que demostró a través de su personaje la fuerza que puede llegar a tener una madre para proteger a sus hijos, desempeñando a mi parecer el rol más importante de este film; si ya vieron esta película espero sus apreciaciones en los comentarios y si aún no la han visto los invito a disfrutarla, hasta una próxima oportunidad.

Unfortunately, although the end of the film is not very encouraging, we are left with a glimpse that this story could have a second part, which gives us hope that the world will be saved and we can regain faith in ourselves.
