Juror #2 - Someone has to be sentenced

It's been a long time since I've seen a movie with good drama, I must admit that it's not my favorite genre, but gradually I see some that provoke good expectations. I think the strength of the drama genre goes beyond sentimentality, discomfort and other elements that normally make a movie memorable, and well, in this particular case I think the ethical and moral discussion are the main protagonists of a situation that would make more than one to think about how to act and what to do and what not to do, but later I will give you more context about it.

Now, I think it's difficult to tell you about the movie without giving you spoilers, but I'll try. Juror #2 takes us to a town in the USA that seems to be sparsely populated, the locations are distant and the roads usually go through forests. In said town, a trial is being held for a man who is accused of passionately murdering his girlfriend, he is the main suspect since the night the girl died, the two were seen arguing in a bar, both were drunk and although they weren't exactly violent, it was evident that he had problems.

The truth is that the girl in question decides to go home walking in the rain, but at that very moment her boyfriend starts his car and in view of all the witnesses, it seems that he went after her. The next day, the girl was found dead under a bridge, it seems that she was brutally beaten. So with everything I have told you, there seems to be no doubt that it was a crime of passion, however, there is some evidence that does not seem to be sufficient, for example, the weapon or object with which she was beaten was not determined.

So, let's remember that trials in the U.S. are conducted by a judge, who is the one who issues the sentence, but also has the participation of ordinary citizens who serve as jurors, who, after hearing the arguments of the lawyers representing both sides and seeing the evidence, determine the guilt or innocence of the defendant.

Now, why do I vaguely clarify how the justice system works for this type of trial, well, it turns out that as the lawyers progressively explain the facts, one of the jurors begins to put together pieces of the night of the incident, he happened to have been in the same bar where the couple was seen arguing and from there recapitulated his path until he got home. Some things started to swirl around in the juror's head that wouldn't let him sleep peacefully and that's where the ethical and moral debate opens up, but I'm afraid you'll have to see the movie to know the rest.

Juror #2 | Official Trailer

One of the wonderful things about this film is that it makes us debate about situations in which we could be involved and in which our silence could directly affect other people beyond whether they deserve it or not, situations in which you have to decide if you will act fairly or if you will think about yourself and your family. As far as justice is concerned, it seems that there is only black and white, but the director of the film takes care of getting us into a dilemma in which things start to get gray, doubts take over you and although you probably have a clear answer of what should have happened in that trial, others could be at a crossroads of thoughts.

On the other hand, I must say that the film has spectacular performances, Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette knew how to get into the characters to convey in the best possible way the feelings that people in such circumstances could be experiencing. The direction and script are perfect, I expected nothing less from Clint Eastwood who at his advanced age showed that he knows what he wants to convey and that gives me in particular a ray of hope that I can another film that impacts me as this one did.

This is not just another movie, so I recommend it to you with my eyes closed and I would like to think what you think and what is your position regarding the facts and the sentence of such a controversial trial. It was a pleasure to share.

I saw this movie and loved it. A great story that gives us a lot of food for thought about justice not being very fair to say the least. On the other hand the dilemma of the protagonist, where he really doesn't want an innocent man to pay for something he didn't do, but he also thinks about his wife and daughter who are waiting for his arrival. A rather complicated situation for Justin who I think will live with that for the rest of his life since I consider him a good person.

The movie leaves a good impression, a great expectation of what is going to happen, nothing is clear and that's what I think makes it a good thriller. It is not my favorite genre either, but I did enjoy this production.

Greetings.

It's a dilemma that right now I wouldn't know how to solve, it would seem that everything is justified for Justin to keep quiet, but justice sooner or later comes by any means.

All in all, it's a good movie, definitely worth it!

Yes, I agree with you, and even more so with that ending where a second part may even come out, at least I have read several speculations about it.

Greetings friend, a film that sounds very good and above all it could be something that can be noticed in the streets and how they have to deal with this whole situation and many things come into play, as well as knowing how to make the right decisions so that everything turns out well. As well as other important aspects, it is the issue of judges, since in other countries they are not strict with this issue. Thanks for sharing it with us.
