En el 2009, año del estreno de "Up", exitoso film de Pixar, se demostró que las apariencias engañan; recuerdo que en ese año existía la preocupación sobre el aspecto mal humorado del personaje principal (o uno de ellos), me refiero a "Carl Fredricksen", un hombre de tercera edad el cual no entraba en esa línea de tener aspecto comercial como si había ocurrido en otras producciones de esa productora; muy equivocado estábamos porque al ver ese film descubriríamos una conmovedora historia de amor, la historia de Carl cumpliendo una promesa a su amada Elllie.

In 2009, the year of the release of "Up ", Pixar's successful film, it was shown that appearances can be deceiving; I remember that in that year there was concern about the grumpy appearance of the main character (or one of them), I mean "Carl Fredricksen", an elderly man who did not fit in that line of having a commercial appearance as it had happened in other productions of that production company; we were very wrong because when watching that film we would discover a touching love story, the story of Carl fulfilling a promise to his beloved Elllie.

Después de doce años los personajes "Carl Fredricksen" y "Doug", regresaron para seguir relatando sus historias luego de concluir una gran aventura la cual los convirtió en inseparables amigos; aclaro que hago referencia a doce años (y no catorce) porque en el 2021, en Disney Plus, se estrenó una serie de cinco episodios cortos enfocados en los dos personajes antes citados, el cual fue llamado como "Dug Days"; la realidad es que esa serie estaba compuesta por seis episodios, pero se decide que el episodio final tendría estreno en las salas de cine justamente con el estreno del film "Elemental"; ese episodio con una duración de más de ocho minutos, recibió por nombre "Carl's Date".

After twelve years the characters "Carl Fredricksen" and "Doug", returned to continue telling their stories after concluding a great adventure which turned them into inseparable friends; I clarify that I refer to twelve years (and not fourteen) because in 2021, in Disney Plus, a series of five short episodes focused on the two characters mentioned above, which was called "Dug Days" was released; The reality is that this series was composed of six episodes, but it was decided that the final episode would be released in theaters precisely with the premiere of the film "Elemental"; this episode, with a duration of more than eight minutes, was called "Carl's Date".

Este corto episodio demuestra un gran balance entre la nostalgia, comedia y por supuesto un fuerte sentimiento de apoyo y comprensión a lo que debe experimentar "Carl" al conseguir una cita; me sorprendió el trabajo de Bob Peterson, quien dirige, escribe y provee la voz a "Doug"; de esas tres funciones, la historia es lo que siento que es especial, es por supuesto simple, rápida, pero así como dije hace muy poco, el balance e inteligencia de saber en qué momentos decir una frase, un gesto y con un gran final, es lo que hace que funcione como otro complemento más para esta historia de Carl y Doug.

Lo que más me gusta de este corto y de los otros cinco episodios de esta serie es que sean Carl y Doug, sean los protagonistas, en especial el conocido como "El Perro Alfa"; Doug es mi personaje favorito, me da tanta felicidad que tenga la posibilidad de comunicarse y sé que los perros son muy comunicativos, pero qué tangas la posibilidad de conversas con ellos me parece una de las mejores ideas que he visto en un film y en esta oportunidad es algo muy importante para esta breve historia, Doug es un gran protagonista, un amigo incondicional. Con respecto a "Carl", creo que lo que generó una completa aceptación a este personaje es su amor incondicional a su eterna pareja, a Elllie, ese motivo es fundamental para su historia y también para esta en dónde nuevamente debe explorar territorios peligrosos, no en la gran "Salto Ángel", sino en una cita.

This short episode shows a great balance between nostalgia, comedy and of course a strong feeling of support and understanding of what "Carl" must experience when getting a date; I was surprised by the work of Bob Peterson, who directs, writes and provides the voice to "Doug"; of those three functions, the story is what I feel is special, it is of course simple, quick, but just as I said very recently, the balance and intelligence of knowing at what moments to say a phrase, a gesture and with a great ending, is what makes it work as yet another complement to this story of Carl and Doug.

What I like most about this short film and the other five episodes of this series is that Carl and Doug are the protagonists, especially the one known as "The Alpha"; Doug is my favorite character, it gives me so much happiness that he has the ability to communicate and I know that dogs are very communicative, but what tangas the possibility of conversing with them seems to me one of the best ideas I've seen in a film and this time is something very important for this short story, Doug is a great protagonist, an unconditional friend. Regarding "Carl", I think that what generated a complete acceptance to this character is his unconditional love to his eternal partner, to Elllie, that motive is fundamental for his story and also for this one where again he must explore dangerous territories, not in the great "Salto Ángel", but in a date.

Me pareció genial este corto film; me gusta el cómo está muy relacionados sus protagonistas, la confianza entre ellos, su amistad, lo cual es importante y da validez a todas sus ocurrencias, algunas las cuales me sentí identificado, como por ejemplo conversar con tu mascota, en esta ocasión con un perro y es que yo soy de esas personas que puede entablar una conversación con su perro, siempre convencido de que él me entiende y apoya en mis acciones. Existe otro aspecto importante en esta producción y es el contar con la mayoría de personas que participaron en "Up", uno anteriormente nombrado, Peterson, siendo el otro, el actor Ed Asner, el cual este fue uno de sus últimos trabajos (o el último) antes de fallecer en el 2021; creo que eso da mucho más valor a este proyecto y posiblemente sea un gran cierre para esta historia sobre cumplir promesas, pero a la vez de tomar riesgos, de experimentar cosas nuevas, de dejar atrás la soledad y vivir de una manera feliz.

I thought this short film was great; I like the way its main characters are closely related, the trust between them, their friendship, which is important and gives validity to all their occurrences, some of which I felt identified with, such as talking to your pet, in this occasion with a dog, and I am one of those people who can have a conversation with his dog, always convinced that he understands me and supports me in my actions. There is another important aspect in this production and that is to have most of the people who participated in "Up", one previously named, Peterson, being the other, the actor Ed Asner, which this was one of his last works (or the last) before passing away in 2021; I think that gives much more value to this project and possibly is a great closure for this story about keeping promises, but at the same time to take risks, to experience new things, to leave behind the loneliness and live in a happy way.
