[ENG-ESP] Rebel Moon - Part One (REVIEW)

After director Zack Snyder, who had previously produced films such as 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel and Justice League, was denied the production of a Star Wars film by Disney, the famous filmmaker gathers a cast of renowned actors to make a film in this style of the intergalactic science fiction franchise. Rebel Moon is a three-part trilogy born out of this problematic situation, creating a universe of interconnected projects. The first part, A Child of Fire, is now available to enjoy on the Netflix streaming platform.

Tras la denegación de la producción de una película de Star Wars al director Zack Snyder por parte de Disney, quien había producido anteriormente películas como 300, Watchmen, Man of Steel y Justice League, el famoso cineasta reúne a un elenco de actores de renombre para fimar una cinta al estilo de dicha franquicia intergaláctica de ciencia y ficción. Rebel Moon es una trilogía de tres partes que nace a partir de esta situación problemática, generando con esto un universo de proyectos interconectados entre sí. La primera parte, A Child of Fire, ya se encuentra disponible para disfrutar a través de la plataforma de streaming Netflix.

Rebel Moon: Part One is a two-hour film starring Sofia Boutella, who plays a warrior who gave her life to defend the imperial insurrection and now fights alongside the rebels to overthrow it. She is also joined by actors Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, Djimon Honsou, Ray Fisher and Bae Donna in supporting roles.

Rebel Moon: Part One es una cinta de dos horas de duración protagonizada por Sofia Boutella, quien interpreta a una guerrera que dió su vida por defender a la insurrección imperial y ahora lucha al lado de los rebeldes para derrocarla. También acompañan a esta actriz los actores Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, Djimon Honsou, Ray Fisher y Bae Donna en papeles secundarios.

This film can be categorised as a league between Star Wars with Captain Marvel and Tarzan, so to speak, mixing a bit of everything from all three. Science fiction and fantasy predominate, but it also contains some drama and a bit of action, on the one hand, a version suitable for all ages, and on the other hand, for an adult audience.

Esta película se puede catalogar como una liga entre Star Wars con Captain Marvel y Tarzan, por decirlo de alguna manera, mezclando de todo un poco de lo que tienen estas tres. La ciencia y ficción y la fantasía predominan, pero también contiene algo de drama y un poco de acción, por una parte, una versión apta para todas las edades, y otra, para un público adulto.

For those of us who saw Deadpool, the actor who played the villain in the first part, Ed Skrein, is our main antagonist, giving a performance that inspires both fear and laughter. Another actor with a villainous role that stands out a bit in the film is Alfonso Herrera, who we may see more of in the sequels.

Para los que vimos Deadpool, el actor que dio vida al villano de su primera parte, Ed Skrein, es nuestro antagonista principal, repitiendo una actuación que inspira miedo y risas a la vez. Otro actor con un papel de villano que resalta un poco en la cinta es Alfonso Herrera, a quien posiblemente veremos más adelante en sus secuelas.

The graphics are very well done, with small details that we will have to wait for official answers to know if they are really made on purpose or are effects resulting from the VFX. That middle ground between what references to Star Wars with the level of fantastic plot with which they made the films of the '90s is what makes us not see the film so long, this, due to its two-hour length.

Los gráficos están muy bien trabajados, con pequeños detalles que tendremos que esperar respuestas oficiales para conocer si son realmente hechos a propósito o son efectos resultantes de los VFX. Ese punto medio entre lo que referencia a Star Wars con el nivel de trama fantástica con la que hacían las películas de los años ‘90 es la que nos hace no ver tan larga la peli, esto, debido a su duración de dos horas.

Finally, we have a band of revolutionary warriors who seek to defeat the yoke by which they are oppressed, preventing it from spreading beyond the cosmos. This group is reminiscent of the Guardians of the Galaxy in its diversity and inclusiveness, which grows larger as the film progresses.

Finalmente, tenemos una banda de guerreros revolucionarios que buscan derrotar el yugo por el cual son oprimidos, evitando que se extienda más allá del cosmos. Este grupo nos recuerda a los integrantes de los guardianes de la galaxia por su diversidad e inclusión, quien se va agrandando a medida que la cinta avanza.

The director himself states that this franchise is directly interconnected with Army of the Deads and its films, being part of the same cinematic universe. Also, at the beginning of this first part, we can see that the way they open space portals matches the way we saw them in 2013's Man of Steel. Any theories?

El propio director afirma que esta franquicia está interconectada directamente con Army of the Deads y sus películas, formando parte del mismo universo cinematográfico. Además, al principio de esta primera parte, podemos apreciar que la manera de abrir portales espaciales coincide con la forma en la que los vimos en Man of Steel de 2013. ¿Alguna teoría?

Rebel Moon is full of feelings, heart, laughter, action and unforgettable moments that make it a material that will go down in history, despite its criticisms. I didn't expect anything and got a lot with this film, it's pure cinema. Ready for a sequel?

Rebel Moon está llena de sentimientos, corazón, risas, acción y momentos inolvidables que la convierten en un material que pasará a la historia, a pesar de sus críticas. No esperé nada y recibí mucho con esta cinta, es puramente cine. ¿Listo para una segunda parte?
