REVIEW: WEAK HERO CLASS 1 - Don't Underestimate Someone Who's Calm

Hello Movie Lovers,
This time I want to review a drama adapted from a webtoon written by Seopass with the title "Weak Hero" while the drama version uses the title "Weak Hero Class 1". One of the most iconic dramas because the story is not easy to guess, with the storyline revolving around the main character who is physically weak but intelligent. Oh yeah, be careful, because this is full of spoilers!

SHORT SYNOPSIS

Weak Hero Class 1 tells the story of Yeon Si Eun, a student who has a weak physique but has a smart brain. his attitude of not caring about school riots actually makes his fall into school fights. With his intelligence, he is able to fight the bullies with his weak physique. Together with his two friends Ahn Su Ho and Oh Beom Seok, he goes through everything, until finally their friendship is tested.

THE SMART CHILD OF A BROKEN HOME

Yeon Si Eun is the child of a broken home couple, his mother who is a teacher passes on his intelligence to her. With his determination and ambition to enter a prestigious university, he went crazy studying, and he didn't even have free time to play with his friends, he did that while at school, until finally an incident occurred that made his have a friend and an enemy at the same time.

UNTOUCHED

Initially, Yeon Si Eun didn't care about the bullies who always bothered her, because for his it was just a waste of time and energy, so what they did was just a passing wind but that made the bullies angry and looked for ways to make Yeon Si Eun angry and fight back.

GRADES BECOME THE MOST VALUABLE THING

Because the gang of bullies always lost and were unable to touch Yeon Si Eun with physical bullying and intimidation, finally one of the bullies said that grades were valuable to Yeon Si Eun, so they came up with the idea to bother Yeon Si Eun so that his grades would be bad.

NEW STUDENT AS BULLY'S SERVANT

The next day a new student came, a transfer from another school named Oh Beom Seok. The son of a famous mayor. At first, Oh Beom Seok was just like any other student, until he was accidentally read by a gang of bullies that he transferred schools because he was bullied, until finally the secret became the bully gang's weapon to pressure him to do bad things to Yeon Si Eun.

UNCONTROLLED ANGER

That morning the class held a try out for the final school exam, and this is when the bully gang took action. They told Oh Beom Seok to stick drugs on Yeon Si Eun's neck, so that Yeon Si Eun would have difficulty concentrating and make his lose consciousness in working on the questions.

Long story short, when the exam was carried out, Oh Beom Seok deliberately stuck drugs on Yeon Si Eun's neck who was sitting right in front of her, at first Yeon Si Eun was unconscious, until finally the drugs worked and made his dizzy, nauseous which required his to leave the class.

After finishing the try out, the students were asked to evaluate their answers, and as expected Yeon Si Eun's grades became bad and made his extremely angry. With careful calculation through his smart brain, Yeon Si Eun beats the gang of bullies with precise punches that make them die. While that happened, all the students were silent watching the calm Yeon Si Eun turn into a monster, there was only one student who dared to break it up, namely Ahn Su Ho (a boxer). This is where Yeon Si Eun and Ahn Su Ho's friendship began.

THE COUNCIL THAT BRINGS A BRIGHT POINT

The class commotion became the focus of the school which made the students involved punished, but not Yeon Si Eun, because he loudly said that the gang of bullies used drugs to bully her. The school also asked for the gang of bullies to be transferred. But it didn't end there.

SOLID FRIENDSHIP

After what happened, Oh Beom Seok came to Yeon Si Eun to apologize for what he did, and explained what happened, trying to approach and wanting to be friends with Yeon Si Eun. Until something unwanted happened to Yeon Si Eun, he was stopped and beaten by a gang of bullies who also paid other people to destroy her. Luckily Oh Beom Seok found out and asked Ahn Su Ho to help her. From this incident, a friendship was formed between the three of them.

BETRAYAL BECOMES THE END OF THIS DRAMA

After the previous incident made them friends, who were always together and shared joys and sorrows, until finally another friend appeared who made Oh Beom Seok feel ignored, since then Ah Beom Seok felt hurt and chose not to be friends with Ahn Su Ho and Yeon Si Eun. In his instability, Oh Beom Seok actually joined a gang of bullies and became a bully, even targeting Ahn Su Ho as a victim.

Because of his disappointment in Ahn Su Ho, Oh Beom Seok forgot himself and ganged up on Ahn Su Ho in the boxing ring until he finally had to go into a coma and undergo intensive care. Hearing this, Yeon Si Eun was furious and attacked the bullies blindly, including Oh Beom Seok. But because he couldn't bear it, he took it out on the school window. This scene caught the attention of the audience because it was very real and outside the script which made the actress Yeon Si Eun receive an award for his acting.

CONCLUSION

For me, this drama is very epic, because it explores all the dark sides of teenage relationships at school that parents rarely know. Starting from bullying, drugs, and the effects of bullying are clearly displayed in this drama. It is a lesson for those of us who have teenage children or even experienced it ourselves as teenagers.
I give a rating of 9/10 for this drama, because I finished it in a day, lol. And this drama will air for season 2, making me impatient to see what other breakthroughs Yeon Si Eun will make.
