Beach walk: November 11 2023

Yesterday was another full day… well, I shall say full weekend really. It started with a morning run on Friday morning. The newest addition to my ‘getting well’ schedule advised by my holistic doctor.

As you may know I’ve already started running again earlier in the summer to help quiet my overworking mind. I’d run 2 weeks, injure something, take 2 weeks break and run again until another injury… on an off.

This time round my holistic doc recommended to run in the morning, on an empty stomach, just drink my pre-workout and get in touch with him when/if I injure myself and we’ll fix each and every part of me one at a time.

2 weeks in I have no injury as such, but I have aches in various body parts - neck, hips, lower back, so I booked a nice, 2h session with him for tomorrow. Better sort whatever needs fixing before the actual injury happens 😁

I’ll be honest - Im super proud of myself getting up at 8:15 on my off day on Friday to go for that run before my appointment in the hospital at 10am. It was a great start of the day and I felt energised throughout the day and until late at night.

I was dancing around the kitchen while cooking dinner for my friend, I effortlessly posted a long form article on my main account and I danced my night away at the local salsa party.

Despite going to sleep really late (around 2:30am), I was up again before 9am, getting myself ready for a day of walking with my friend John.

He arrived around 11am and off we went to Bournemouth. The plan was to do that amazing, long walk to the cliffs that we did with my friend Nunzia for my bday in May, but for that we would have to leave much earlier. It’s been raining quite a lot and John didn’t have wellies, so we decided to just walk along the beach instead.

John was super excited when he realised we arrived in Bournemouth! For some reason he thought we’ll be walking in Southampton, somewhere nearby my house, so seeing the beach made him very excited, as he had some lovely memories of this place.

We walked and talked for many hours. John has been extremely supportive during my darkest days this year and he is very happy seeing how the change of diet and introduction of new healthy habits brought back the old Monika that he knows.

While I might not be 100% back to my normal self, I am also extremely happy with the progress. I have more energy to do various things and above all I am starting to enjoy what I do a bit more than during those dark months this year.

Like eating ice creams!

Who cares it’s a middle of November? It was a spontaneous decision and we both enjoyed them thoroughly 😍

Serious conversations were entangled with lots of jokes and laughter and both of us really enjoyed this day to the fullest. It was already dark when we strolled into town for a dinner. We picked a Vietnamese restaurant and enjoyed many oriental sounding dishes.

A part of me wanted to scream NO when he was ordering starters full of sea food which I would never order myself, but the other side of me whispered ’just say YES’. Like I mentioned many reports ago, I’ve become too closed and I need to practice saying YES more.

As a result I totally enjoyed everything we ordered we were walking back to my car with full stomachs and happy mood, despite the darkness and us not really remembering where the car was parked 😂

Never mind! We found the car eventually and altogether we’ve done over 23km and 36k steps! Not much less than if we walked to the cliffs. If I remember well, we did a little over 40k steps during that walk with Nunzia in spring.

After this full on weekend I wasn’t even feeling guilty sleeping for 14h 😂 Most of my aches are gone after this restful night (and half a day 😉), so I ventured out for a little walk in the neighbourhood today as well.

Until next walk 💙

Ohooo, nicey, go for more morning running until your body got use to it. But im just wondering, why you injured yourself a lot of time while doing that? And how I wish we could also have a John in our life too, a very supportive one who will lift my hand just so I can continue moving forward. Clap clap to your friend (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)

Aww 🥰 John is a special friend. I’ve known him for 13 years, but only in the past 2 years or so we became closer. Sometimes I wish I fancied him - he would be a great boyfriend 😁

Not sure why I keep injuring myself. Maybe I do too much but not often enough or maybe my body is not made for running 🏃‍♀️ 😉

Ohh, that long. Maybe after 2 more years you would start to, tou jnow, hihi 🤭

Oh, that, it's like even if you are not doing anything and just running, you keep injuring yourself. Maybe you have to stoo running hard and just enough runnin?
